Understanding Transaction Processing Systems (TPS)

Objective:
Understand how Transaction Processing Systems and Management Information Systems work
by handling a real-world dataset related to tourist destinations in the Philippines. They will
process the data and create informative reports and visualizations using tools like Excel, Google
Sheets, or any data visualization software.
Instructions:
1. Dataset Overview
Attached is the dataset of tourist destinations in the Philippines. Use this data to explore
different analysis methods, generate reports, and create charts to visualize trends.
2. Clean the Data (if needed)
o Check for any missing data or errors. For example, if a destination has no rating,
you can leave it blank or enter “N/A.”
3. Sorting and Filtering (Please provide a screenshot for this step)
o Sort the data by Region or Year of Visit.
o Filter for specific regions or years to isolate data and look for trends (e.g., sort by
Rating to find top destinations).
4. Analyze the Data (Please provide a screenshot for this step)
o Calculate the average visitor count per region using the AVERAGE() function.
o Calculate the total spending per region.
o Identify the highest-rated destination.
5. Create Visualizations
o Bar Chart: Create a bar chart comparing Visitor Count for each Region.
o Pie Chart: Create a pie chart.
o Line Graph: Create a line graph.
6. Create a Summary Report
Based on your analysis, summarize using the template provided by the instructor.
