COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SOLIDARITY & CITIZENSHIP

Grade Level: 11 Q:2- Lesson 8

SYNTHESIS OF THE LEARNER’S INSIGHTS IN THE CONDUCT OF

COMMUNITY ACTION PLAN

I. MOST ESSENTIAL LEARNING COMPETENCY

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
• Synthesize the insights gained in conducting the community action plan that
applied the methods of Social Sciences. (HUMMS_CSC12-IVe-h-21-22)
Specific Objectives:
1. appreciate the importance of values in community integration through expressing
their thoughts on given images;
2. accomplish the community fieldwork report, and
3. reflect on experiences in the community engagement by writing their short essay.
II. OVERVIEW:
As a 21st century learner, you must learn how to translate your learning
experience into a life-long application in your everyday life. These experiences are
essential in achieving new knowledge and meaningful life situations. These will also
teach you values that will empower you amid life’s challenges.
III. LEARNING ACTIVITIES:
Community integration/engagement is an essential part in community
development. It is also an essential part of self-growth and self- actualization. It has
been said that the noblest part of living is when you get lost to the service for others.
Once you serve, it doesn’t only create a positive impact on your community but also
gives beneficial effects on you as a person. When you serve the community, you will
help in increasing the possibility of achieving the community’s goal, contribute to the
progress of the community, and help promote solidarity among community members.
As a person, you gain benefits of serving by building connections with others, establish
rapport, and build camaraderie. Also, it promotes a heathier mind and body. Most

importantly, it gives you self-fulfillment and learning that you may be able to use in the
future. With this, it is fitting to say that volunteerism is always a two-way process. You
gain experience as you give service.

Community engagement seeks to better engage the community to achieve

long-term and sustainable outcomes, processes, relationships, discourse, decision-
making, or implementation. In today’s crisis, learners should be trained to conduct
such activity as they are becoming a more significant part of the community.
To be successful, it must encompass strategies and processes that are
sensitive to the community context in which it occurs.

Community engagement is work done by a person or group of people that

benefits others. It is often done near the area where you live so your own community
reaps the benefits of your work. You do not get paid to perform community service but
volunteer your time. It can help many different groups of people: children, senior
citizens, people with disabilities, even animals and the environment. Community
service is often organized through a local group such as a place of worship,
school, or non-profit organization. But you can also start your own community service
projects. Many people participate in community engagement because they enjoy
helping others and improving their community. Some students are required to do
community service in order to graduate high school or to receive certain honors. Some
adults are also ordered by a judge to complete a certain number of community service
hours.
There are numerous benefits to participating in community engagement/
service, both for yourself and others.
