Professional Practices Group Project

Project Title: Tech Startup Team Simulation


Group Size: 6-8 Students
Submission: Written Report & Presentation

Objective:

The goal of this project is to simulate a tech startup where students apply professional
practices such as team management, recruitment, employee training, motivation, and ethical
decision-making.

Project Components:

1. Company Formation

• Choose a startup idea (software development, cybersecurity, AI, mobile app).


• Assign roles (CEO, HR Manager, Tech Lead, Marketing Lead, Finance Manager to all
group members).
• Create a mission statement and company overview.

2. Recruitment & Selection

• Design a job description for key positions.


• Simulate a hiring process (resume screening, interview process, candidate selection).
• Develop a selection criteria and justify hiring decisions.

3. Employee Training & Development

• Identify training needs for employees.


• Propose a training program with methods (workshops, mentorship, online courses).
• Develop an employee performance evaluation system.

4. Motivation & Team Management


• Apply motivation theories (Maslow’s Hierarchy, Herzberg’s Theory) to create an
employee motivation plan.
• Address challenges like conflict resolution, delegation, and performance evaluation.
• Develop policies for team communication and leadership.

5. Legal & Ethical Considerations

• Discuss privacy policies, data protection laws, intellectual property rights, and
workplace ethics.
• Identify potential legal challenges and propose solutions.
• Outline how the startup will ensure ethical business practices.

6. Final Report & Presentation

• Submit a 10-12 page report covering all aspects of the project.


• Prepare a 15 minute group presentation summarizing the startup’s professional
practices.

Presentation:
• Presentation Date: Presentation date will be announced after the project submission as
per class schedule
• Presentation Format: Prepare a professional PowerPoint presentation (PPT) for
your final presentation. Each group will have 15 minutes to present, followed by a short
Q&A session.
• Final Submission: Bring a hard copy of your finalized project. Ensure it is printed,
neat, and well-organized.

• Preparation Tips for Presentation:


- Ensure all group members participate in the presentation.

- Practice your presentation in advance for time management and confidence.

- Be ready to answer questions from your peers or instructor.


• Important Reminder: Late submissions or unprepared presentations will result in a
deduction of marks.

• Final Project: Submit a digital copy (Word File of Final Project + PPT slides)
via email. Deadline: April 6 t h , 2025 on Sunday (Till 11:59 pm).

• Each group should bring one hard copy of the completed project to submit
on the presentation day.
