Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Software

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) software is a popular tool that students may be interested in
using. AI tools to help brainstorm assignments or projects or to revise existing work you have
written you must cite it.
______If you decide to use AI for any assignments, you must cite your AI sources. The citation
must include the link to the tool you used, the date you accessed it, and the words you typed in to
generate the results.
_____Using AI software content as your own work is academic dishonesty. If it is determined
that AI was overused or abused (over 40% of paper was AI generated contend), you will
receive a zero for the assignment.
______If the paper has between 26% and 39%, you will lose two (2) percentage points per
percent of AI content over 25%. This will be documented on your paper or in the grade feedback
section.
 For example, if the AI content of your work is 33 % (this is 8% over the acceptable
limit of 25%, you will lose 16% (8 x2) points off the paper immediately.
 Be mindful that “cut and pasted” text from the internet could be deemed as AI
generated also.
_____When you submit your assignment, please show what text was generated by the AI tool by
putting the AI-generated text in a different colored font. You are responsible for any mistakes or
errors made by the AI tool. Do not rely on the AI tool to produce flawless or correct results.
Always check and edit the output before submitting your work.
_____ ALL papers will be run through at least two AI detectors to determine AI content. A third
AI detector will be used if the results are questionable.
_____ If you challenge yourself with how your paper was scored, it will be first re-reviewed by
Dr. Klase. If it is still questionable whether AI was abused or overused, it will be submitted to the
Dean or other HACC school officials for further review and investigation. After the paper is
reviewed by HACC, your final score will be determined.
_____Ways to avoid AI detection and problems.

1. Summarize all AI generated content in your OWN words.


2. Paraphrase the information you collect from AI and cite the AI app within your paper.
3. Don't use AI to write any content for your paper - all the information you need can be
found in your textbook, journal articles, or other credible resources.
4. Properly cite all your work within your paper and on the Works Cited Page
