Grammars:
Tense-
1. Present Tense

Present Tense:
1. Present Indefinite Tense - Subject + Verb (Present form) + Objective
2. Present Continuous Tense – Subject + am/is/are + (Verb+ing) + Objective
3. Present Perfect Tense – Subject + have/has + Verb (Past Participle form) +

4. Present Perfect Continuous Tense – Subject + have been/has been +
(Verb+ing) + Objective

Past Tense:
1. Past Indefinite Tense - Subject + Verb (Past form) + Objective
2. Past Continuous Tense – Subject + was/were + (Verb+ing) + Objective
3. Past Perfect Tense – Subject + had + Verb (Past Participle form) + Objective
4. Past Perfect Continuous Tense – Subject + had been + (Verb+ing) + Objective

Future Tense:
1. Future Indefinite Tense – Subject + will/shall + Verb (Present form) + Objective

Right Forms of Verb


1. When the subject is Third Person Singular number then s/es will be added with the
VERB.
Example: The boy plays football.
In case of Universal Truth, habitual facts sentence will be structured in Present Indefinite
Tense.
Example: The sun rises in the east.
2. Simple Present Tense rule will be applicable when sentence has words such as Always,
regularly, sometimes, often, generally, daily, everyday, occasionally, usually, normally,
daily etc.
Example: He always eats singara after college period.
3. When there is no Auxiliary Verb then Do, Did and Does will be used while transforming
a sentence into Negative or Interrogative.
Example: The girl does no sing a song.
4. If Interrogative sentence has what, when, where, who, which, whose, why, how then
according to Tense & Person “To be verb/Auxiliary Verb” will be added. And in absence
of “To be verb/Auxiliary Verb” according to Tense & Person do, did, does will be used.
Example: What are you doing now?, What do you want?
5. When a sentence explain that a chore is currently going on in present then Verb will be
worked as Present Continuous Tense and such words- now, at this moment etc. will be
presented on the sentence.
Example: We are discussing on a topic now.
6. Any sentence containing have, has, had then Verb will be past participle.
Example: We have completed the session.
7. Sentence will be transformed in Present Perfect Tense when it contains just, just now,
already, yet, ever, lately, recently etc.
Example: I met him recently, Have you ever been to Dhaka?
8. Past form of Verb will be in use when words which indicates past incident such as
yesterday, ago, long since, last night etc. are mentioned.
Example: Last night we finished a movie.
9. (No sooner had____than, scarcely had_____when, hardly had_____before)
In these cases, Verb of 1 st Bracket will be transformed in Past Participle and Verb of 2 nd
Bracket will be transformed in Past Form.
Example: No sooner had he seen the police than he ran away.
10. If 1st part of SINCE is Simple Present Tense/Present Perfect Tense then 2 nd part will be
Simple Past Tense.
Example: It is many years since I came to Dhaka.
11. If 1st part of SINCE is Simple Past, then the 2nd part will be Past Perfect.
Example: It was long since I had seen her last.
12. If 1st part of BEFORE is Past Perfect Tense then 2 nd part will be Simple Past Tense. On
the other hand, if 1st part of AFTER is Simple Past Tense, then 2 nd part will be Past
Perfect Tense.
Example: The patient had died before the doctor came, The patient died after the doctor
had come.
13. When there is a presence of 2 verbs on a simple sentence then (verb+ing) will work or
TO will come before the Verb or Past Participle form of verb will come.
Example: I saw him reading, I don’t want to read this book.
14. Verb will be transformed into Present Form and if there is “To” before the Verb it will be
removed too when sentence contains words such as Had better, had rather, would better,
would rather, let, must, need, dare etc.
Example: You would better (to go) home – You would better go home.
15. When sentence contain words like As though, as if, wish etc. then “were” will be used
instead of (to be) in the bracket.
Example: I wish I (to be) a king – I wish I were a king.
16. If the 1st part of As though/As if is Simple Present Tense then 2nd part will be Simple Past
Tense or if the 1st part of Simple Past tense then 2 nd part will be Past Perfect Tense.
Example: He speaks as though he knew everything, She proceeded as though I had not
spoken.
17. In the 1st part If the Verb of MAIN CLAUSE is Past Tense and, in the 2nd, part
containing NEXT has some indication of time such as next day, next week, next year etc.
then there will be WOULD or SHOULD before the VERB in the bracket.
Example: he said that he (go) home the next day – He said that he would go home the
next day.
18. If + Simple Present Tense + Simple Future Tense
Example: If he works hard, he will shine in life.
19. If + Simple Past + Past Conditional – (Subject + would/might/could + Present form of
Verb)
Example: If he came, I (go) – If he came, I would go.
20. If + Past Perfect Tense + Present Conditional – (Subject + would have/could have/might
have + Past Participle form of Verb)
Example: If I had seen him, I (tell) him the matter – If I had seen him, I might have told
him the matter.
