The first reason is that surrogacy can fail. Based on the failed surrogacy scenario, many
respondents switched to adoption. By adoption, it makes the individual feel more emotionally
secure. also there’s no repeated disappointment or medical failure.
The second reason is fear of regret or guilt. Some people who do surrogacy might feel regret
after it even to the kids. Next is willing to take the risk, adoption’s system is not easy and it
will take a lot of time not just day and months but years. Even when adoption is legally hard,
people still choose adoption to show that they believe that helping a child is worth the
challenge.
Next it’s less medical involvement and avoiding genetic risk. Based on the genetic illness
scenario, most respondents switched to adoption. It avoids passing on hereditary conditions
especially when the parents already know that they have genetic illness.
Adoption helps children who already exist. Looking at children who doesn’t have a parents is
painful so for some people who have difficulties in having children, they might choose to
adopt the kids. By doing adoption, they help children who need a family. Believing that
parenthood should be about love and not control.
The first reason is some people want a biological child, valuin genetic connection . In the
multi-select answers, many people tend to choose "the ability to have a biological child"
The second reason is want to control over pregnancy and early health. One of the most
selected reasons was "the ability to monitor the health of embryo before birth"
The third reason is want to be involved in the process. Some respondents picked "the ability
for both partners to participate in the pregnancy and arise the child from birth"
The fourth reason is because people trust technology and medicla systems. Based on the
artificial womb scenario, surrogacy support jumped significantly. It shows that many people
are open to surrogacy if the ethical concerns are removed. We can see from the result that
there are 83 people who picked adoption and after the scenario, 36 people change to
surrogacy, 25 stays, and 22 not sure.
The fifth reason is to see surrogacy as faster or more predictable. Based on the legal
complexity scenario, some switched from adoption to surrogacy. Because surrogacy takes
less time and have fewer legal challenges. After we do some research, adoption takes a lot of
time. It can takes months or even years before the kids legally adopted.
The sixth reason is feel family or cultural pressure to continue the bloodline. Based on the
family pressure scenario, a small group still choose surrogacy.
The last reason is there's a desire for fewer background checks, no social worker visits, and
more control over timing.
