III. Procedure:
A. Preparation:
 Hello childre n! Welcome back to school for this school year
2022-2023. Are you excited for our lesson today?
1. Prayer AVP
2. Song
3. Standard Formation/Incentive Chart
 Since today is your first day in school I will give something
in your group. I have here three (3) bags. Each bag
represents your group. Whenever you answer correctly
and follow instructions your bag will be filled with school
supplies.

 Well then what are the things you need to do/ show while
the lesson is going on?
- Keep silent
- Listen to the one speaking/ Share ideas when given the
time to talk/ speak.
- Participate/cooperate in any activities
- Work with the group during group activity while
observing health protocols
- Follow instructions from the teacher and group leaders
- Etc.

3. Motivation
 What can you say in this picture?

 What do you think they’re talking about?

B. Presentation:
1. Slide Show
 The children in that picture are Betty and Lino. They’re
having their conversation while in the school. Let’s read
their conversation.
Betty and Lino are Grade III pupils of Maligaya Elementary
School.

Betty: Hello there, Lino!


Lino: Hi, Betty. Are you ready for our class today?
Betty: Yes, of course, Lino. I already made my assignment last
night.
Lino: Me too, so, let us go!

On their way to the classroom, they met Mr. Santos in the


hallway.
Betty and Lino: Good morning, Sir!
Mr. Santos: Good morning, children! Are you ready for your
class
today?
Betty: Yes, Mr. Santos. I am ready to present my output about
my
family.
Lino: I am excited too.
 To initiate a conversation, someone may ask or tell
something, and the other will respond. To have a good
talk, we must remember to listen and be respectful of
each other.
 We use polite expressions in talking to someone such as
‘Thank you.’, ‘Excuse me.’, ‘May I…?’, ‘I’m sorry.’,
‘Please.”, ‘Shall we…?’, Would you…?, ‘Goodbye.’, ‘Can
I…?’, and ‘Nice to meet you.’
 Here are some examples of expressions that we use when
we want to start a conversation:
- ‘Good morning/afternoon/evening!’
- ‘Hello’,
- ‘Hi’,
- ‘How are you?’
- ‘How is it going?
- ‘How have you been?’
- ‘Glad to see you.’

C. Discussion:
 Questions:
1. Who is the teacher Lino and Betty meet?
2. What attitude did Lino and Betty show?
3. Will you want Lino and Betty to become your friends?
Why?
4. How did Betty and Lino begin the conversation in the
dialogue?
5. How do we initiate a conversation?
6. What are some polite words/expressions that we can
use when we talk to someone?
7. Is it important to use polite words/expressions in talking
to someone? Why?

D. Generalization:
 There are steps to follow when we initiate conversation.
Think of a good idea to start a conversation. The speaker is
the one that gives the information, and the listener is the
one that responds. It can also be vice versa.
 Remember to listen and be respectful of each other when
having a conversation by using the different polite words/
expressions

E. Application
Group 1: Initiate a conversation of the situation below:

It’s recess time. You want to go to the school canteen and


buy some snacks. You saw Carla sitting alone at one

 Sentence b) is called compound sentence.

D. Generalization:
 Describing means to tell something about a person, thing,
animal, place, or event. You can say something about its
number, size, shape, quality and color.
 A simple sentence is composed of a subject and a
predicate while a compound sentence is made up of two
simple sentences connected by and, or while.
 Every sentence must have a subject and predicate. A
Subject can be a person, thing, animal, place, or event that
is being talked about while a Predicate is stating or telling
something about the person, thing, animal, place, or event.

E. Application
 Directions: Read the short poem below and answer the
activity
that follows.
The Sky

I love to look up the blue sky,
and see some cute birds flying by.
It also makes me think why?
Why do people do not have wings to fly?
Up the sky, the sun shines so brightly,
