Name: Syed Shikaib Kamran
Project Overview:
This code performs Market Basket Analysis on a dataset of transactions, using the
Apriori algorithm to identify frequent itemsets & association rules among items. The
analysis process includes data cleaning, frequent itemset mining, association rule
mining, & visualization of results.
Key Findings:
The Apriori analysis identified frequent itemsets & association rules, showing strong
patterns in customer purchasing behavior:
Frequent Itemsets: Items like avocado (3.3%) & combinations such as mineral
water, whole wheat rice, & spaghetti are commonly bought together, indicating
staple preferences.
Association Rules: Strong rules include (light cream > chicken) with a lift of 4.84
& (pasta > escalope) with a lift of 4.7, suggesting specific meal-prep associations.
Business Recommendations:
1. Product Placement: Place frequently co-purchased items like mineral water &
spaghetti close together to enhance customer convenience.
2. Bundling: Promote bundles of light cream with chicken & pasta with escalope
to boost sales.
4. Inventory Focus: Ensure consistent stock of popular items like avocados &
almonds, catering to demand, especially for health-focused customers.
Conclusion:
The Market Basket Analysis conducted with the Apriori algorithm offers essential
insights into customer purchasing behavior, revealing popular product combinations
& associations. These insights inform actionable recommendations, such as
optimizing product placement, creating effective bundles, & implementing targeted
cross-selling strategies. By doing inventory with these insights, businesses can
enhance customer satisfaction & boost sales through a data driven approach.
