Asian Elephants

Asian elephants are beautiful creatures whose footprints spread all over many countries across Southeast
Asia. Tom Morgan, a renowned director, released a new documentary called Where Elephants Roam
explores the lives of these great creatures.

Mr Morgan’s journey filming the documentary

Mr Morgan spent three years following the Asian elephants for his documentary to try to understand their

habits and the world in which they live in. When he first saw an Asian elephant, he was amazed by their

size and intelligence. They can weigh around 11,000 pounds and their brains are very well-developed

and they have excellent memories.

The dangers faced by Asian elephants

In the wild, Asian elephants are easy targets for hungry tigers as food. They also face dangers from humans

who often hunt them and destroy their grassland habitats, leading to a falling population count. Today, there

are fewer than 50,000 left.

Endangered Species Foundation’s Work

The Endangered Species Foundation is working to save these endangered elephants. __________________

where the elephants live. Besides Asian elephants being endangered, African elephants are also

vulnerable to extinction.

With these efforts, we hope to improve the lives of elephants, in particular Asian elephants so that the world

can enjoy and admire them.
