HAVE BEEN TAKEN SUCH AS
DEVELOPMENT OF PLATFORMS.
PRIME FOCUS ON UTLITIES

PLATFORMS WITH ALL UTILITIES PROJECTING THE NEED FOR NEXT 20
YEARS.
• CLEAN WASHROOMS, PROPER WAITING AREAS, CLEAN PLATFORMS
ARE THE MAJOR FOCUS OF INDIAN RAILWAYS.
• ANOTHER FOCUS OF RAILWAYS IS TO CONNECT ALL MODES OF
TRANSPORT TO A SINGLE HUB SO THAT TRANSPORT SYSTEM
BECOMES EFFICIENT.

KAVACH SYSTEM
IN INDIAN
RAILWAYS
CURRENT
CHALLANGES
• The Indian Railway faces
numerous safety and security
challenges, including accidents
and terrorist activities. These
challenges pose a significant
risk to passengers and railway
infrastructure.
• Head-to-head collisions of
trains due to interlocking fault
is also a major issue.
TECHNOLOGY
• The Kavach System comprises three key
components: sensor network, central
monitoring system, and response
mechanism.
• Real-time monitoring is a crucial aspect
of the Kavach System. It enables
continuous tracking of train
movements, identification of potential
risks, and prompt response to
emergencies.
BENEFITS OF KAVACH
SYSTEM

• Kavach System brings numerous

benefits to the Indian Railway. It
improves passenger safety, reduces
accidents, enhances security, and
minimizes response time during
emergencies. It utilizes sensors to
detect track abnormalities,
obstructions, and potential
collisions. The system can
automatically apply brakes, issue
warnings, and take necessary
actions to avoid accidents.
CONCLUSION
• The Kavach System has
revolutionized safety and
security in the Indian Railway. By
leveraging advanced
technologies and intelligent
algorithms, it provides proactive
measures to prevent accidents
and address security threats.
VANDE BHARAT EXPRESS
INTRODUCTION
• The Indian Government has
dedicated significant efforts towards
strengthening the ‘Make in India’
campaign. As an excellent example of
the ‘Make in India’ success story, the
Indian Railways launched India’s first
indigenous Semi High Speed train,
Vande Bharat Express. The first Vande
Bharat Express train was flagged off on
15 February, 2019 on the New Delhi
Kanpur-Allahabad-Varanasi route.
• Objectives behind Vande Bharat
Express
This train has been introduced to
upgrade maintenance technologies and
methodologies and achieve
improvement in productivity and
performance of all Railway assets and
manpower in which inter-alia would
cover reliability, availability, utilization
and efficiency.
• Culmination of ‘Make in India’ effort
of Indian Railways
In keeping with the Prime Minister’s
vision of "Make in India", the major
systems of the train have been designed
and built in India. Impact of this train,
matching global standards of
performance, safety and passenger
comfort and yet costing less than half of
global prices, has the potential to be a
game changer in the global rail business.
