ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION

In our rapidly evolving world, technology plays a pivotal role in shaping contemporary

society, influencing everything from communication to daily routines. One area where this

impact is profoundly felt is in traditional cultural practices and identities. As globalization

accelerates, many communities face the challenge of balancing the preservation of their unique

cultural heritage with the pressures and conveniences offered by modern technology. From the

use of social media to disseminate cultural knowledge to the adaptation of digital platforms for

traditional art forms, technology is both a bridge and a barrier. This interplay raises important

questions about authenticity, preservation, and adaptation, looking at how communities keep their

cultural identity while facing technological change and how technology can support or weaken

traditional practices. This exploration seeks to delve into the multifaceted relationship between

technology and culture, examining both the opportunities and challenges that arise as societies

navigate the complexities of modernity while striving to honor their ancestral roots.

Moreover, technology also introduces significant challenges to our cultural preservation.

Individuals are increasingly at risk of losing touch with their cultural heritage as they immerse

themselves in a digital environment that is dominated by global music, pictures and lifestyles.

Since Western norms and international media are prevalent, local traditions and cultural identities

might seem to be eclipsed by contemporary trends. Moreover, social media encourages popular

discovery, communication, and platforms including widely broadcast shows all demonstrate the

fundamental attraction of contemporary globalized culture. While technology makes it easier to

preserve and disseminate cultural traditions, it also carries risk of eroding their foundations by

adapting them to fit global environments. In order to manage this simultaneous influence,

individuals who are working to preserve their cultural identity have to maintain a balance
between innovation and tradition. Furthermore, integrating technology in ways that respect and

promote traditional values rather than replace them could be one method to maintain integrity.

Technology affects the course of cultural development since it influences every aspect of

culture. Technology must be compatible with the social and cultural circumstances of the

community in order to occupy the greater cultural dimension otherwise, there will be conflict

between the advancement of technology and the preservation of cultural values. Moreover, with a

growing population comes the development of more technology. Every country has its own

unique culture, traditions, social conventions, and values, as does every community. Through the

advent of technology, individual standards of life have significantly increased and evolved.

Furthermore, instead of eliminating tradition, technology helps to change the way that things are

produced or produced. Technology has the potential to support traditions as long as the interests

of those who benefit are considered. (Niroula, 2023)

The aim of this paper is to investigate the positive and negative impacts of technology on

traditional cultural practices and identity in a globalized world. This will lead us to understand

more how technology changes our cultural identities and also how technology influences the

future of traditional practices in a rapidly changing world. Technology is the most commonly

used when it comes in our culture and will guide us to correctly handle the usage of online

platforms. In order to understand how communities manage these changes while attempting to

preserve their unique cultural heritage in a constantly changing environment, this study explores

the complex effects of technology on traditional cultural practices and identity.

STATEMENT

This paper examines how in today's globalized society, technology may both function as a
tool for cultural preservation and as a force that upends established identities and cultural

practices. It takes into account how technology can aid in the dissemination and preservation of

cultural heritage through digital technologies, but it can also erode cultural authenticity as local

customs are influenced by global media. This study intends to comprehend how communities

may embrace contemporary innovations while maintaining their own cultural identities by

examining the harmony between new technologies and traditional customs.

The paper examines the complex relationship between technology and cultural

preservation, highlighting the advantages and difficulties that communities encounter while

attempting to preserve their legacy in a digitally connected world. This viewpoint supports the

article's examination of how cultures can maintain their customs while adjusting to new

technologies.

OUTLINE

This paper examines the impact of technology on traditional cultural practices and identity

within a globalized context. It highlights how technology plays a role in preserving and

promoting cultural heritage while also addressing its effects on these practices. The analysis

maintains a neutral perspective, presenting both the benefits and challenges to provide a balanced

understanding for readers.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

This section of the term paper will review research and studies directly related to the

topic. It will summarize key ideas, findings, and discussions from scholarly works. This review

will provide background knowledge, point out gaps in existing research, and show why the topic

is important.

PURPOSE

The purpose of this literature review is to explore existing studies and writings on the

positive and negative impacts of technology on cultural heritage in a globalized world.

Furthermore, this term paper limits its scope to technology, specifically focusing on the positive

and negative impacts of social media on cultural heritage.

According to a recent article entitled “The Impact of Modern Technology on Traditional

Cultures” In order to fully address the cultural, self-identity, and knowledge loss that comes with

the economic expansion of media outlets, this aspect of the globalization of communications

needs to be strengthened. Geographical cultural regions are identified that have significant

percentages of indigenous or traditional societies that have not been assimilated. Geographical

regions with high concentrations of similar societies can be identified, and conservation strategies

that prioritize corporate responsibility in high-tech development, distance and remote-assisted

education, and regulatory stance-taking by national and international media are suggested based

on cultural survival probabilities. In addition, the impact of technology can deepen existing

disparities in wealth and power, influencing the social and political structures in society. The gap

between those who have access to different levels of technological development, both within and

between countries, is referred to as the digital divide. Nevertheless, this divide can manifest in
various ways: within poorer nations, between different age, gender, and ethnic groups, people

with disabilities, and other marginalized communities, as well as between wealthy and

impoverished countries on the global information network. The pace at which the digital divide

can be bridged, its scope, and the actions required to address it depend on several factors,

including the technological capabilities of a country, internet quality, and policies that promote

market competition and liberalize the telecommunications sector. (Mateusz Brodowicz, 2024)

Based on the article “The Impact of Technology on Cultural Preservation” The advances

in technology have made it easier for us to access information and cultural artifacts from around

the world. However, the same technology also threatens to erase cultural heritage, as it has

become easier to copy or digitally alter information, artifacts, and other traditional customs. In

many cases, technology has made it harder to preserve cultural heritage the old-fashioned

manner. For instance, many tribes still transmit their traditions and beliefs orally, which is getting

harder as the world gets more digital. The distinctive identity of a culture can be undermined by

the ease with which technology has made it possible to copy and distribute cultural items.

Additionally, people can now more easily control, change, or even eradicate traditional rituals and

beliefs thanks to technology. This has been especially harmful when cultural heritage has been

used for profit, as in the instance of traditional symbols being appropriated in fashion or

traditional tunes being used in advertisements. Furthermore, technology has contributed to the

growth of cultural homogeneity. Cultural variety has been undermined and civilizations have

become more standardized as a result of globalization, which has made it easier for people to

learn from around the world. Lastly, although technological developments can aid in the

preservation of cultural heritage, they can also be abused or destroyed. It is essential to

comprehend the potential drawbacks of technology if we want to preserve customs and values.

(Beaumont, 2023).
Impacts of technology on culture, tradition and social values, a society's beliefs, norms,

and daily behaviors reveal its culture. People's perspectives, actions, and technological usage are

ways that they express their culture. Language, art, transportation, education, and religion are just

a few of the cultural aspects that are significantly impacted by technology. A community's culture

influences how it perceives and uses technology. Technology influences every aspect of culture;

hence it also influences how culture evolves. Technology must align with the social and cultural

norms of a community in order to be accepted there. If not, it may lead to conflicts between

traditionalism and progress. People of all ages, backgrounds, and educational levels can use

technology freely when there is a fair balance. Moreover, globalization and technology have

made the world seem smaller and more interconnected. It's difficult to picture modern living

without modern conveniences like communication, transportation, and power; it would be a

throwback to earlier times. Technology is responsible for advancements in fields such as

engineering, medicine, and the economy. The benefits of technology have led to modernization,

urbanization, industrialization, and advancements in communication and transportation.

Additionally, it facilitates the blending of various customs and civilizations, strengthening the

bonds and unity of cultures. (Ashes Niroula, 2018).

Cultural globalization in the era of modern technology and its impact on the individual

and society in today's age of advanced technology, cultural globalization has emerged as a

powerful force that greatly influences both individuals and society. It involves the spread of

ideas, values, and meanings across the globe, strengthening and expanding social connections.

This process is driven by factors like the internet, mass media, and international travel. In

addition, Technology is key in making this exchange possible. Through global media and social

media platforms, cultures can raise awareness and foster understanding by sharing their stories

and identities. The freedom that technology offers allows people and communities to represent
themselves and preserve their personal and shared identities. Additionally, it gives cultural groups

the power to

manage their public image and prevent misrepresentation. Moreover, cultural globalization, in

today’s technological age, signifies a major shift that has deeply affected both individuals and

societies. Due to fast growth of technology, especially the internet, has effortlessly connected

people worldwide. This connection has sparked a blending of cultures, creating a vibrant

exchange of ideas, values, and traditions. As a result, societies have become more diverse and

have gained a better understanding of different cultures. (Hamid Biouaraine 2024).

Technology and Culture. The impact of technology on culture is complex, with both

beneficial and harmful effects. Technology has changed how people create, share, and experience

cultural content, leading to new forms of art, communication, and social interaction. At the same

time, it has created challenges, such as the weakening of traditional cultural practices, the

blending of cultures into a more uniform global culture, and the growth of digital inequalities,

especially the internet and social media, has made it easier to exchange cultural ideas, values, and

practices quickly across the world. This greater connectedness has promoted cross-cultural

understanding and cooperation, allowing people to learn about and appreciate different cultures.

However, it has also contributed to the spread of global popular culture, which can sometimes

overshadow or replace local customs and traditions. Furthermore, the gap between those with and

without access to technology, known as the "digital divide," has the potential to exacerbate

cultural inequality. People without access to digital tools and platforms may be left out of global

cultural exchanges and find it harder to maintain and promote their own cultural traditions.

Closing this digital divide is crucial to ensure that everyone can take advantage of the cultural

opportunities’ technology offers and that diverse cultural practices are recognized and preserved.

(Utah Valley University 2024).

The Impact of Social Media on Cultural Traditions and Values, Unveiling the Dual

Impact of Social Media on Cultural Preservation and Evolution. Human culture has a long and

diverse history, with countless traditions and values passed down through generations. It is ever-

changing, continuously adapting to new influences. In today's world, social media plays a major

role in shaping this evolution, transforming cultural norms and practices. This article will

examine how social media is affecting cultural traditions and values. Additionally, social media

has both positive and negative impacts on culture. On the positive side, it boosts visibility,

helping lesser-known cultures gain recognition, and provides unparalleled access to learning

about different traditions directly from their sources. It also fosters creativity by exposing people

to diverse cultural practices, encouraging innovation. However, there are downsides as well, such

as the risk of cultural practices being misappropriated or misunderstood, leading to a loss of their

true meaning. Additionally, the complexity of cultural traditions can be oversimplified for quick

consumption, reducing their depth and significance. Furthermore, the impact of social media on

culture offers both opportunities and challenges for both enthusiasts and scholars in

understanding and preserving cultural heritage. Sharing cultural content should be guided by

honesty and respect because posts can occasionally perpetuate stereotypes or misrepresent

traditional customs. Because different cultures have distinct viewpoints and beliefs. Social media

also offers a forum for intercultural cooperation, which promotes improved comprehension and

respect between other populations. (Tyler L, 2024).

The impact of social media on culture is profound and multifaceted. Social media has

become a powerful tool for promoting activities and fostering connections, breaking down

barriers of time and distance. In today's globalized world, its popularity stems from its user-

friendly nature and its ability to spread ideas and opinions widely. Social media encourages

creativity and raises awareness about various social issues. It also facilitates cultural adaptation
for individuals who move to different countries, helping them integrate and understand new

surroundings. However,

social media is not without its downsides. Many young people, particularly children, spend

extensive time on social media, often blurring the line between reality and the digital world.

Growing up in a heavily digital environment can affect how they perceive the real world. This

duality highlights the deep cultural impact of social media, which brings both positive and

negative consequences. Social media has become an integral part of daily life, enabling people

across the globe to communicate, socialize, share knowledge, and explore new experiences. It is a

significant platform for learning about and appreciating diverse cultures. Users can share writing,

art, photographs, poems, performances, ideas, and more, allowing them to express themselves

and connect with a wide audience. For struggling artists or those with hidden talents, social media

offers an opportunity to showcase their creativity and reach an audience that might otherwise

remain inaccessible. Additionally, social media fosters empathy by connecting individuals from

different backgrounds and promoting understanding. However, this platform, which grants users

the freedom to share virtually anything, often leads to the spread of inappropriate content and

harsh criticism, particularly on sensitive topics such as politics, religion, and social issues. It has

also contributed to an increased reliance on virtual relationships, with many people favoring

online interactions over face-to-face connections. While average or sensational content frequently

garners significant attention, genuinely talented individuals may struggle to receive the

recognition they deserve. The overwhelming amount of information, including fake news and

unnecessary posts, can be detrimental. Furthermore, the spread of negative or hurtful comments

can have harmful effects on society, highlighting the complex nature of social media's impact on

culture. (Admin & Admin, 2022).

The Evolution of Social Media Impact on Society and Culture. Over the last 20 years,
social media has changed dramatically, going from basic networking sites to powerful tools that

influence societies and cultures worldwide. This article looks at the development of social media,

its significant impact on society and culture, and what its future changes might mean.

Additionally, one of the biggest effects of social media is its ability to bring people together, no

matter where they are or what culture they belong to. It has changed the way we communicate,

allowing for instant interactions and the sharing of ideas worldwide. Social media platforms have

become vital for keeping in touch with loved ones, organizing events, and driving social

movements. While social media offers many advantages, it has also introduced several challenges

and controversies. Problems like online harassment, cyberbullying, misinformation, and biased

algorithms have highlighted the negative aspects of these platforms. Additionally, the addictive

qualities of social media have raised concerns about its effects on mental health and well-being,

especially among younger users. (Mj writes, 2024).

Social media: The Influence of Social Media on Globalization, In the era of globalization,

the growth of social media has revolutionized the way we communicate and connect with each

other. It has allowed us to reach people across the globe, breaking down geographic barriers and

promoting cultural exchange. With just a click, we can share photos, videos, and messages with

loved ones anywhere in the world. Social media has also empowered marginalized groups, giving

them a platform to share their stories and experiences with a broader audience. Furthermore, the

rise of visual social media platforms marked this stage in the evolution of social media. Platforms

like Instagram, Pinterest, and Snapchat, which focus on sharing photos and videos, made it

simpler for users to share their experiences and showcase their creativity. In recent years, these

visual platforms have gained massive popularity, with Instagram reaching over one billion active

users by 2020. Social media platforms have become a vital part of our everyday lives,

transforming how we communicate, share information, and interact with one another. They have
played a key

role in the globalization process by connecting people across the globe. The development of

social media has been fascinating, starting with the first social networking site, Six Degrees, and

evolving into today’s popular platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. The

history of social media is marked by constant innovation and competition, which has led to the

introduction of new features and functions. The evolution of social media can be broken down

into several stages, each with its own distinct characteristics and features. (Faster Capital, 2024).

Globalization, Social Media and Imperatives in the Promotion of Nigerian Cultural

Values. The media play a key role in globalization by spreading and promoting the values of

various cultures around the world. As a form of media, social media has emerged as a new

technology that enhances the process of globalization, helping to make it more effective. Today,

social media allows for the rapid sharing of content that can reach over 80% of the global

population. Through this, the cultures and values of different people are promoted and made

available to audiences across national borders. The media, especially social media, are powerful

agents of globalization, helping spread and promote the values of different cultures worldwide.

Social media has evolved with new technology, making it a key tool in connecting people

globally. These values, which define a group's unique identity, encourage interaction among

different religious, political, and social groups, fostering collaboration for the common good. In

today's digital age, social media serves as a platform where communities, including those in

Africa and Nigeria, can proudly showcase and share their cultural values with the world. (Charles

Effiong, 2018).
MAIN BODY

This section discusses the positive and negative impacts of technology on traditional

cultural practices and identity in a globalized world, while being neutral. Therefore, there are a lot

of studies that show the positive and negative impacts of technology on the cultural heritage of

people around the globe, specifically on social media platforms. Furthermore, this paper provides

the positive and negative arguments to present the main points together with its evidence.

SUBHEADINGS

Technology

In today's digital age, technology plays a pivotal role in shaping how we communicate,

learn, and interact with the world around us. From social media and e-commerce platforms to

advancements in healthcare, technology has transformed our daily lives in both positive and

challenging ways. Technology in online platforms refers to the digital tools, systems, and

software that enable users to access, interact, and share content on the internet. This includes

social media platforms, e-commerce sites, streaming services, and communication tools that rely
on technologies like cloud computing, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and mobile

applications. These platforms allow individuals and businesses to connect, share information,

engage in commerce, and collaborate, transforming how people interact, learn, work, and

socialize in the digital age. According to the study of (Adam s H., 2019) Technology influences

how people communicate, learn, and think. It shapes society and affects the way individuals

interact with one another every day. In today's world, technology is a crucial part of life, with

both beneficial and harmful effects on daily routines. We live in an age where technological

progress is widespread, with the internet and mobile phones being just a few examples.

Furthermore, Technology has introduced numerous new ways of electronic communication. For

instance, we now have email, social media platforms, the ability to video call someone across the

globe, and video conferencing for virtual meetings. Additionally, advancements in technology

within the healthcare sector have played a key role in promoting safety and well-being. There are

now various innovative apps that allow individuals to track their weight, calorie intake, heart rate,

and other health metrics throughout the day. Accessibility to medical treatments has also

improved, with technological changes benefiting the elderly, and hospitals increasingly

incorporating advanced technology in their surgical procedures.

The Positive Impacts of Technology in the Globalized World.

In a globalized world, technology has had a profound impact on communication,

education, and economic growth, fostering greater interconnectedness across cultures and nations.

Technology has greatly enhanced communication, making it easier for people from different

cultures and regions to connect instantly, breaking down geographical and social barriers. It has

facilitated access to information, education, and knowledge, allowing individuals to learn,

innovate, and improve their lives regardless of their location. Technology also plays a crucial role

in driving economic growth by creating new industries, improving productivity, and offering new

opportunities for businesses and workers worldwide. Additionally, it has helped raise awareness

on global issues such as climate change, human rights, and health, enabling worldwide

collaboration and action. Social media and digital platforms have given marginalized voices a

global audience, promoting cultural exchange and diversity. Overall, technology has empowered

individuals, communities, and nations to engage more deeply in the global economy, society, and

culture. According to (Carlo Hummel, 2024) social media is at the heart of modern culture,

serving as both a reflection and a platform for cultural expression. It allows us to showcase our

cultural diversity, explore different cultural perspectives, and examine shared values.

Additionally, social media plays a key role in cultural evolution by shaping how we interact and

influencing our perceptions of traditions and our personal cultural stories. Furthermore, in today's

digital age, access to information has become more widespread than ever before. Knowledge that

was once limited to specific libraries or institutions is now available online to anyone with

internet access. Books, research papers, and educational resources can be streamed directly to

our devices, greatly enhancing our ability to learn independently, regardless of our location.

The Negative Impacts of Technology in the Globalized World.

While technology has brought numerous benefits to the globalized world, it has also

introduced several negative impacts. Issues such as privacy concerns, the weakening of social

bonds, and the spread of misinformation have emerged alongside the rapid advancement of

digital tools. The negative impacts of technology in the globalized world include privacy

concerns, as personal data is often collected and misused. Digital communication has weakened
face-to-face interactions, affecting social bonds, while the spread of misinformation can deepen

societal divides. Unequal access to technology creates a digital divide, limiting opportunities for

many, especially in developing countries. Automation and AI are also displacing jobs, leaving

workers vulnerable. Additionally, technology can erode traditional cultures and identities, as

global trends overpower local customs. In Addition to this, according to (United IT Consultants,

2024) Despite the widespread adoption of technology, significant challenges remain, particularly

the digital divide, which limits access to essential resources in low-income and developing

regions. This divide hinders opportunities for education, employment, and social inclusion,

exacerbating existing inequalities. At the same time, technology raises privacy and security

concerns, as personal data is often collected and shared without consent, exposing individuals to

risks like identity theft and cyberattacks. Automation and artificial intelligence, while creating

new jobs, also lead to job displacement in sectors like manufacturing and retail, requiring workers

to adapt to a rapidly changing job market. Furthermore, the rise of digital communication and

social media has contributed to social isolation and mental health issues, particularly among

young people, with excessive screen time and cyberbullying linked to anxiety and depression. In

addition to this, As

people around the world get access to global media technologies, the dominant media producers

spread their cultures around the world. This has led to people blaming globalization for the

“Disneyfication of culture” while indigenous and local cultures become diluted and people

increasingly develop transnational identities.

ARGUMENTS

Positive Impact of Technology on Cultural Practices

Technology has positively impacted traditional cultural practices and identity by

providing powerful tools for preservation, education, and global recognition in a rapidly

globalized world. Digital platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok have allowed

communities to document and share traditional rituals, dances, crafts, and languages, ensuring

that they are not lost to time. Virtual archives and databases enable the preservation of

endangered cultural elements, such as indigenous languages, which can be taught through apps

and online courses. Furthermore, technology fosters cross-cultural appreciation, as people from

different parts of the world gain access to and learn about diverse traditions, promoting cultural

pride and global understanding. Today, social media platforms should be used for engaging and

practicing cultural preservation and practices and it is free to use with the help of the internet.

First, technology should be used in everyday life for preservation and practices to

maintain our cultural traditions. According to (Ashes Niroula, 2015) Technology plays a vital role

in shaping key aspects of all cultures, including language, art, mobility, education, and religion.

However, for technology to effectively contribute to cultural development, it must align with the

social and cultural context of the community; otherwise, tensions may arise between

technological progress

and the preservation of cultural values. Advancements in fields such as medicine, engineering,

and economics have all been driven by technology. The processes of industrialization,

urbanization, modernization, and improvements in transportation and communication have all

been made possible through the positive influence of technology. Additionally, technology

supports the connectivity of cultural practices, traditions, and societal unity. The 21st century has

progressed significantly thanks to the continual advancement of technology.

Next, technology should be used in everyday life because it is easy and free to use with

the help of the internet. According to (Broadband, A., 2023) The internet has become an essential
part of our daily lives, simplifying and speeding up many tasks. It provides access to valuable

information, facts, and knowledge, supporting personal, social, and economic growth. For

students, the internet is an invaluable tool for continuous learning, offering opportunities to

explore new subjects and earn degrees through online programs. It also plays a crucial role in

research and development, driving progress through online research. Undoubtedly, the internet is

the most powerful communication medium today, enabling fast, free connections between people

around the world.

Some people believe that technology is harmful to cultural practices and globalization

because it reduces face-to-face interactions. However, this is not a major issue, as technology still

allows for effective online communication. With the use of technology, we can easily connect

with people involved in globalization without the need for in-person interactions. According to

(Ashes Niroula, 2018) Technology enhances production methods and drives industrialization, but

it does not necessarily diminish tradition. When applied thoughtfully, it can actually help preserve

cultural practices by highlighting their positive aspects. Furthermore, technology is essential in

strengthening interpersonal relationships and has made valuable contributions to sectors like

healthcare, transportation, and electricity. This implies that technology doesn't simply diminish

our traditions, but can also enhance and preserve them.

Negative Impact of Technology on Cultural Practices

Due to its loss, simplicity, and commercialization in a globalized environment, technology

has negatively impacted traditional cultural traditions and identity. Traditional arts, customs, and

languages could decrease as a result of younger generations losing interest in their heritage due to

trends on social media sites like Instagram and TikTok. Also, cultural activities frequently lose
their deeper meaning when they are reduced or transformed into goods for tourism or internet

content. Additionally, Technology has changed the way we live, but it also risks pushing aside

important parts of culture. Today, social media platforms should not be used for engaging and

practicing cultural preservation and it can harm cultural traditions by making them less important,

misunderstood, or even forgotten.

First, technology should not be used in everyday life for preservation and practices to

maintain our cultural traditions. According to (Claire Pinney, 2023) Technology has made it

simpler for individuals to modify, distort, or even eliminate traditional customs and beliefs. This

has been especially harmful when cultural heritage is exploited for profit, such as using

traditional music in advertisements or appropriating cultural symbols in fashion.

Next, technology should not be used in everyday life because it can harm cultural

traditions by making them less important, misunderstood, or even forgotten. According to the

study of (Ashes Niroula, 2018) Technology plays a vital role in enhancing interpersonal

connections and has made significant contributions to sectors such as healthcare, transportation,

and energy. It has positively impacted various demographic groups, for example, modern farming

techniques have replaced traditional methods, leading to higher crop yields and reduced time

investment. However, as people spend more time using technology, they invest less in social

interactions. Technology is often criticized for the decline of traditional media, such as television

and newspapers. Furthermore, the widespread use of technology tends to be limited to educated

individuals. As technology advances, some argue that it also leads to a regression in human

connections and social skills.

Some people argue that technology does not harm cultural practices or globalization, but

rather enhances them and contributes positively to the preservation of our culture. According to
(Mishra, Pandey et al., 2023) Although some beliefs and traditions stay the same because people

see culture as a reflection of society's heritage, the fast spread of digital technology and global

competition have led to big changes in how organizations work and how employees behave.

When people from different cultures come together, it can sometimes cause misunderstandings or

even conflicts. In recent years, technological advances have changed cultural values and norms

more quickly than ever before, and this is creating tensions between cultures, which can affect

their performance at work.

ANALYSIS

This term paper explains how technology affects traditional cultural practices and identity

in both good and bad ways. It shows that while technology helps preserve and share traditions, it

can also weaken or change them because of social media and global trends. The purpose is to

highlight the need to use technology wisely to protect cultural heritage while avoiding its harmful

effects.

PURPOSE

The purpose of this paper is to provide a well-organized, persuasive, and thorough

exploration of the positive and negative impacts of technology, with a particular focus on social

media's influence on cultural heritage. The discussion will analyze how technology can both

support and challenge efforts to preserve cultural heritage, backed by evidence from existing

studies. By presenting these findings, the paper aims to highlight what has already been

researched and to shed light on how technology contributes to preserving cultural heritage while

also posing potential risks to its sustainability.

CONCLUSION

The impact of technology on traditional cultural practices and identity in a globalized

world is profound and multifaceted. On the positive side, technology has made it easier to

preserve, share, and promote cultural traditions through digital platforms and social media,

helping communities maintain their heritage in a fast-changing world. These tools foster global

cultural exchange, raise awareness, and empower marginalized groups to represent their identities

on a broader stage. However, the influence of technology also brings significant challenges,

including the risk of cultural homogenization, where global trends overshadow local traditions,

and the commercialization or simplification of rich cultural practices. Social media, while a

powerful platform for connection, can distort or dilute the authenticity of cultural heritage. This
paper emphasizes the need for a balanced approach to technology's role in culture. While it

provides incredible opportunities for cultural preservation and innovation, it also requires

responsible use to prevent the erosion of diversity and identity. Communities must strive to

integrate technology in ways that respect and enhance traditional values, ensuring cultural

practices are not lost but evolve in harmony with modern advancements. This dual approach can

help protect the richness of global cultures while leveraging the advantages of a connected, digital

world.

RECOMMENDATION
