Required textbook: Anatomy and Physiology Patton.Thbodeau, 7th Edition

Course Objectives: To gain a basic understanding of the structure and function of the
human body
• To identify and explain the structure and function of each body system
• To discuss diseases, disorders and conditions commonly found in healthcare
• To explain the role of each body system in maintaining homeostasis
• To develop some fundamental lab skills and research ability through lab exercises
and term paper projects.
Overall, this class will help lay a foundation for future study in the areas of health sciences
and biomedical engineering. The course will consist of lab and lecture sessions and
attendance to both is compulsory.
