supermarkets in European nations in 1998 and 2008
INTRODUCTION: The bar charts illustrate the proportion of food and other products bought
from supermarkets in three European countries in two years, namely 1998 and 2008.
OVERVIEW: Sales in supermarkets went up in all countries over the years, no matter the
products. Although Country B had the highest percentage of food and goods bought in
supermarkets in 1998, by 2008, Country A had passed it.
Task 1: The chart below shows the number of people employed in five types of work in one
region of Australia in 2001 and 2008.
INTRODUCTION: The bar chart illustrates how many people were employed in five different
jobs in a particular Australian region in 2001 and 2008.
OVERVIEW: Overall, the number of employees in sales, computing, and nursing went up
slightly, while accounting and farming saw a small decline. The sales sector had the most
employees, while farming had the least in both years.

countries over three years.
Answer: The given bar chart compares five different countries in terms of their film production
from 2007 to 2009.
Overall, the number of films produced in countries B, C, and E increased, whereas a decline was
observed in the remaining countries.
3. Task 1: The graph below provides data on unemployment levels in the UK, the rest of
Europe, and Japan over the period from 1993 to 2007.
Answer: The line graph illustrates changes in joblessness levels in three different parts of
the world between 1993 and 2007.
Overall, there was an increase in the rate of unemployed people in Japan, whereas the
opposite was true in the cases of the UK and the rest of Europe.
4. The table below shows the population ratio of females per 100 males in six different
areas in 1995 and 2005.
Answer: The table gives information on the female-to-male population ratio in six
different regions in the years 1995 and 2005.
Overall, there were increases in the ratios of females to males in Africa and Europe,
whereas the opposite was true in the case of the remaining areas. It is also noteworthy
that Asia and Europe remained the regions with the highest and lowest proportions of
females, respectively.
5. The chart below shows the numbers of three types of visitors to a museum between 1997
and 2012.
Answer: The bar chart illustrates how many visitors of three types visited a particular
museum from 1997 to 2012.
Overall, the total number of visitors to the museum saw an increase, despite some minor
fluctuations. The only group that experienced a decline was individuals under 15 years
old. It is also important to highlight that adult visitors consistently constituted the
majority, whereas the opposite trend was observed in the case of visitors to special
exhibitions.
