Ans. The moon was trudging along its way sulkily when the comet whooshed past
him.

Ans. According to the moon, it was doomed to plod around the earth due to
gravity.

4. What, according to the moon, does the comet do?


Ans. According to the moon, the comet is free to flare and sizzle like a rocket. This
means that it enjoys the freedom to travel throughout space and burns brightly.

5. What did astronauts do to the moon?


Ans. The astronauts once landed on the moon and explored its surface. When
this historic incident took place, the moon enjoyed all the limelight and
importance.

1. Why do you think the moon felt that the comet’s life was more
interesting?
Ans: The moon felt that the comet’s life was more interesting as it was free to
move like a rocket. It was free to flare and sizzle around the sun.

2. What does the phrase – ‘scratch my back’ imply?

Ans. The moon recalled the time when the astronauts floated and walked on
the moon and scratched its back sometimes. This means they came up there
and did some research on the surface of the earth.

3. From the poem, pick out the words that show that the moon and the
comet move at different speeds.
Ans. Words describing the comet’s speed: whooshed, roam like rockets.
Words describing the moon’s speed: Plod, trudged.

4. Whose life do you think is more exciting; the moon’s or the comet’s?
Give reasons for your answer.
Ans: Throughout the poem there are different instances that depicts that the
comet’s life is more interesting than the moon because the comet is free to
flare and sizzle around in the space. It moves like a rocket in the space.
On the other hand, the moon sounds sulky, because it has to repeat the same
cycle everyday in the controls of gravity around the earth.
