Session 1 1) What is Communication? Ans: Communication means being able to tell other people what you want to say. Expressing our feelings, passing on information or influencing other’s people’s opinions, are part of the communication. 2) What are the ways of communication? Ans: i) Verbal form: means communicating orally. ii) Non-verbal form: means communicating using body language, gestures or tone, and pitch. iii) Written form: means communicating via handwritten or printed information. iv) Visual form: means communicating via pictures, logos, posters, maps or charts etc. 3) What are Elements of Communication? Ans: i) A Sender or Messenger: the one who initiate the communication. ii) Ideas/ Information: The idea being conveyed. iii) Communication channel: Channels are the medium which is used to communicate. iv) Receiver or recipient: Receiver is an object which receive message from author. v) Decoding: Decoding is a process of revert of Encoding. vi) Feedback: It may include certain things, most commonly, if message is successfully received or not. 4) What is importance of communication skills? listener(s) may result in miscommunication. ii) It has no legal validity. iii) It is not suitable for lengthy messages. iv) If we use confusing complicated words, it may be difficult to comprehend. 7) What is Non-Verbal Communication? Ans: Non-Verbal communication is the form of communication, which does not use any word or sounds to convey our messages; instead, our body language, facial expression, hand movement, gestures and general behavior send our message. 8) What are components of Non-Verbal Communication? Ans: Following are components of Non-Verbal Communication: i) Body Language. ii) Facial Expression. iii) Hand Movement. iv) Proximity of Position. v) Eye Contact. vi) Appropriate voice tone. 9) What are advantages of Non-Verbal Communication? Ans: The non-verbal communication offers these advantages: i) Non-Verbal cues are easy to give. ii) Time is usually not wasted in non-verbal communication. iii) Even illiterate people can pick up non-verbal cues because the messages are conveyed through expression and the body language. 10) What are disadvantages of Non-Verbal Communication?
Ans: The non-verbal communication has some following disadvantages:
i) Long and detailed messages cannot be communicated non-verbally.
ii) In this type of communication, speakers only use gestures, facial expression, eye contact and touch. It might become difficult for some people to understand. Session 3

Ans: Visual Communication is a type of communication in which the
message are conveyed through pictures, signboards, logos etc. , i.e., through visual medium.
Ans: Following are advantages of Visual Communication: i) Its message gets delivered immediately. ii) Understanding a visual tool does not require a specialized education and training. iii) Visual medium is able to communicate with people from all background who speak other language. 4) What are disadvantages of Visual Communication? Ans: Following are disadvantages of Visual Communication: i) Not everything can be expressed in image. ii) A visual sign may deliver contradictory message in different cultural background. iii) It takes time and money to produce visual media. 5) What is written communication? Ans: Communicating through words is called written communication. In Written Communication the message should be formed clearly and effectively so that the intended message gets conveyed in right form. 6) What are components of Written Communication? Ans: Following are components of Written Communication: i) Structure. ii) Style. iii) Content. 7) What are advantages of Written Communication? Ans: Following are advantages of Written Communication: i) It is a permanent means of communication. ii) Written communication is more precise and explicit. iii) It provides ready records and references. iv) Legal defenses can depend upon written communication as it provides valid records. 8) What are disadvantages of Written Communication? Ans: Following are disadvantages of Written Communication: i) Written Communication is comparatively Costly. ii) Instant clarification is not possible. iii) Time Consuming. iv) Additional Work load.
