Discussion Assignment Unit-2

Masters of Business Leadership
University of the People
November 2024

The current week’s discourse revolves around leadership, which is a trait inside an individual
that makes a difference in fulfilling an objective through the course of human associates without
managing any constraints or hurt to his team members. The substance of leadership is shaped by
the nature of a leader to direct and rouse others. Leadership has been seen unexpectedly over a
long time and the inquiries about have made a difference in distinguishing the key component
and source of leadership being a behavior effect, trait, or aptitude earned through life (Germaine,
2008).

In the article Germaine (2008) examined leadership as behavior, traits, and expertise as the
premise of reality, including inquiries from different decades. After investigating the article and
considering my involvement to date, I have caught on to the traits of being the driver of
Leadership, where a few traits are behavioral and a few can be picked up through talented
knowledge. The trait theory gives constructive information about leadership. Individuals at all
levels in all sorts of organizations can connect it. Managers can utilize the information from the
theory to assess their position in the organization and to survey how their position can be made
more grounded in the organization (Russell, 2011). The trait theory has been able to have
different qualities and preferences:
• It is a satisfying theory.
• It is substantial as part of the investigation has approved the establishment and premise of
the theory.
• It serves as a measuring stick against which the leadership traits of a person can be
assessed.
• It gives nitty-gritty knowledge and understanding of the leader component in the
leadership process.

The trait theory emphasis on the leaders irrespective of their followers or the situation by
concerning with what traits exhibit and who has those traits. In 1991, Kirkpatrick and Locke
declared the traits of a leader when they analyzed the six major traits of drive, the want to lead,
honesty and integrity, self-confidence, cognitive ability, and knowledge of the business as they
key elements which distinguished them from non-leaders. This trait might be upheld by the
illustrations of the world’s leaders like Gautam Buddha, Abraham Lincoln, etc. who were leaders
by their traits which were reflected in their behavior. A leader’s behavior would be exceptionally
diverse from the leader who attempted to pick up leadership aptitudes using information or
maybe his/her inside identity traits (Germaine, 2008). This was moreover upheld by Bédard, Chi,
Graham, and Shanteau in 1993, which focused on identity traits as conditions of skill along with
information, cognitive aptitudes, task characteristics, and choice strategies.
