Welcome to the Operator’s Manual for the AVM4102 (revision 3.0), developed
by Avalex Technologies. Avalex Technologies is a leading supplier of displays,
mapping systems, and specialized interface units for the surveillance market.
This manual will give you basic instructions for the operation of the display

Up to three (3) different video sources may be connected to the display allowing
the operator to easily switch between sources with the touch of a button.
Two (2) VGA connections are available allowing the display of computer
graphics, such as on-screen map data.
The AVM4102 display will display a VGA or Video image full screen, or the
display can be formatted to show two panes (side-by-side) or a main window with
a picture in picture box displayed.
The input source for each pane is easily selectable from the menu.
A standard 6- pin circular power receptacle is used to provide power to the unit.
12-28 VDC is the accepted power input for the unit which must be attached to J1
on the back of the display (See Appendix C).
Operation
Operation of the AVM4102 is controlled by six (6) illuminated front panel
buttons. Press the PWR button to turn the unit on or off.
VGA Operation
There are two (2) separate VGA-type inputs located on the back of the display.
These high density 15 pin connectors are used to connect display graphics for on-
screen viewing. Press the MAP button to switch between the two VGA sources.
Optional Features The video sources, such as FLIR, CCD, DVD, or VCR playback signals can be
connected through the BNC connectors on the back of the display (See Appendix
C).

the bottom of the display.

The FR/ZM button can be configured for different actions when pressed. The
FR/ZM Setup allows the user to configure the action that will result when the FR/ZM
button is selected. These settings can be changed at any time by re-entering the on-

active in Split Screen mode.

PIP POSITION If PIP is selected as the Display Mode, select the position of the
Picture-in-Picture window. You may select Upr-Left, Upr-Right,
Btm-Left, Btm-Right or Center.
BNC Config Menu
COLOR TEMP The Color Temperature feature allows you to adjust the displayed
BNC Config 3-C colors. You may select warm, neutral, or cool.
NO SIGNAL Use the Signal Background feature to select the background color
displayed when an active signal is not connected. You may select
blue or black.

The BNC Config menu allows you to determine the configuration of each BNC
connector located on the back of the display.
Select one of the following options by pressing VID button to select BNC Config and
using the S and T buttons repeatedly until the desired configuration is displayed. Press
the VID button to enter your selection.
AN ON-SCREEN DIAGRAM WILL DISPLAY, DEFINING THE INPUT FOR

The Display Configuration menu allows the display mode (full screen, PIP or dual tile)
and the displayed inputs (VID 1, VGA1, etc) to be selected. These items can also be
selected using the front panel buttons. Although out of order, we suggest selecting the
Display Mode first.
MAIN INPUT Use the Main Input option to select the source for the full screen
display. You may select VID 1-3 or VGA 1-2.
PIP INPUT If you have selected PIP or Split Screen mode in the Display Mode
option, select the source for the second input. You may select VID
1-3 or VGA 1-2. If the Display mode is set to Full Screen, this
option will be grayed out.
DISPLAY MODE Select the mode of display. You may select Picture-In –Picture
(PIP), Split Screen or Full Screen.
VSIZE VSize stretches or shrinks the VGA image. Use the S button
to stretch the image and the T button to shrink the image.

ENABLE The Enable feature allows the video source selected (VID1-
VID3, or SVID) to be enabled or disabled.
If not all video inputs have been connected, use the Enable
feature to disable the unused video inputs, allowing you to
toggle between only the active video sources.
To disable a video source, select the unused source from the
Source feature. Change the Enable feature to NO by selecting
ENABLE on the menu and pressing the VID button until NO is
displayed.
Position Setup Menu BRIGHTNESS The Brightness option allows you to change the brightness of
the video display. The brightness can range between 0 and 100.
