II. Background and Rationale of WAP:


Learning recovery focuses on addressing learning gaps in literacy and numeracy, particularly after disruptions like the pandemic. This
involves assessing learners' skills, identifying areas needing improvement, and implementing targeted interventions, often through focused
curricula. The goal is to ensure learners gain foundational skills in literacy and numeracy and ultimately empower them to succeed in future
learning.

As part to the Division learning recovery specifically on strategic mechanism to address the learning gaps and losses in literacy and
numeracy of Key Stage 1 learners and teachers’ professional development programs in Lunsad Elementary School, this Office shall conduct
a School Based Learning Action Cell (SLAC) on Learning Recovery Program in Literacy and Numeracy to upskill and reskill teachers by
conducting and monitoring LAC based on the guidelines stipulated in DO 35, s. 2016; addressing identified least mastered competencies in
literacy and numeracy of Key Stage learners; providing technical assistance to teachers on suggested developmentally-appropriate learning
activities and varied assessment strategies for learning recovery in literacy and numeracy; and coaching and mentoring strategies for
teachers’ continuous professional development.
It must be noted that LAC sessions are proven effective in engaging a group of teachers in collaborating and solving shared challenges like
gaps and losses in literacy and numeracy.

In this 6 months School Based Learning Action Cell (SLAC) on Learning Recovery in Literacy and Numeracy] provides the teachers with an
opportunity to:
to address the learning gaps and losses in literacy and numeracy of Key Stage 1 learners in the school discussions, simulations, and
development of lesson plans and assessment tools. Teachers will allow to apply these understanding skills, and outputs back in their
classroom that will help learners become literate and numerate through this Workplace Application.
