Module Synopsis This module aims at introducing students to education of learners with physical and health impairment. It will
introduce the students to various categories of physical disabilities. The students will be familiar with signs,
causes, associated problems and characteristics of various physical and health impairment. The students will also
be exposed to issues of identification, assessment and class management of learners with various
physical and health impairment.
Module objectives The objective of this module are to:
1. Explain the characteristics of various physical disabilities and the educational implications of the different
physical disabilities.
2. Describe the role of teachers working with children with physical and health impairment.

3. Discuss curriculum organization and the teaching approaches for children with physical and health
impairment.
4. Create awareness of the various agencies involved in education of children with physical and health

impairment.
