SUMMARY

Reading and Writing - Pages 5 and 6 from “practice with answers” PDF
Listening - Pages 13, 14 and 15. Write listening text
Do a pronouns table or make the kid write it themselves

PRESENT SIMPLE: Usamos el present simple para hablar de rutinas, o hechos.


Para saber si una oración habla de una rutina, buscamos palabras como every day, every
week, every morning, always, usually, etc.

Por ejemplo - I walk to school every day (yo camino a la escuela todos los días)
She lives in Los Cardales (ella vive en Los Cardales)

Depende del pronombre que tengamos, le vamos a poner o no le vamos a poner S al


verbo.

He, she, it SI pongo S

I, you, we, they NO pongo S

Y vamos a usar esta fórmula

Pronoun + Verb with S + Rest of the sentence


Verb without S

Let’s complete and mark if its routine ( R ) or fact ( F )

1- I (go) to swimming lessons every Sunday R/F


2- She (write) letters to her friends when she’s sad R / F
3- They (walk) together to school every morning R/F
4- Thomas and his sister (live) in the countryside R/F
5- always (watch) football matches in Mary’s house R / F

PAST SIMPLE: Usamos el past simple para hablar de cosas que ya pasaron. Usamos
palabras como yesterday, last night, las week, the other day, etc.

Por ejemplo - I ate milanesas last night (ayer comí milanesas)


She bought a bike yesterday (ella compró una bicicleta ayer)

Y vamos a usar esta fórmula

Pronoun + Verb in past + Rest of the sentence


Let’s put the sentences in order:

1- played tennis/they/last night/at the park

2- yesterday/to the supermarket/Emy/drove

3 - to the doctor/went/ the other day/I

4- cooked/my parents/for us/dinner

5- all day/he/music/listened to

PRESENT CONTINUOUS: Usamos el present continuous para hablar de lo que estamos


haciendo ahora. A veces usamos palabras como right now y at the moment.

Por ejemplo - I’m cooking dinner for my family (Estoy cocinando la cena para mi familia)
She’s studying for tomorrow’s test (Ella está estudiando para la prueba de
mañana)

Depende del pronombre que tengamos, vamos a usar AM, IS o ARE

I AM (’m)

He, She, It IS (‘s)

You, We, They ARE (‘re)

Y vamos a usar esta fórmula:

Pronoun + AM/IS/ARE + Verb with -ING + Rest of the sentence

Let’s complete:

1- My children (play) football with their cousins.


2- I (read) a new book
3- She (eat) a ham sandwich at the moment
4- Nicholas (teach) math to his sister right now
5- Sandra and I (bake) a cake for my birthday

PAST CONTINUOUS: Usamos el past continuous para hablar de lo que estábamos


haciendo antes.

Por ejemplo - We were giving my dog a bath (Le estábamos dando un baño a mi perro)
She was sleeping a nap (Ella estaba durmiendo la siesta)
Depende del pronombre que tengamos, vamos a usar WAS o WERE

I, He, She, It WAS

You, We, They WERE

Y vamos a usar esta fórmula

Pronoun + WAS/WERE + Verb with -ING + Rest of the sentence

Let’s complete:

1- Sorry, I (listen) to loud music, what did you say?


2- They (help) me with my homework
3- My dad (clean) the kitchen
4- She (write) her sister a letter
5- The teacher (drink) his tea

SHOULD AND SHOULDN’T: Usamos should y shouldn’t para dar consejos.

Por ejemplo - You should do your homework (Deberías hacer tu tarea)


You shouldn’t go to bed at 3 am (No deberías dormirte a las 3 am)

Cuando usamos should o shouldn't, el verbo se escribe siempre igual, sin importar el
pronombre.

Vamos a usar esta fórmula:

Pronoun + Should/Shouldn’t + Verb + Rest of the sentence

Let’s complete with should o shouldn’t:

1- You eat fruits and vegetables


2- You drive so fast!
3- You go on a walk every day
3- You drink more water
4- You wear jeans in summer, it's too hot!
5- You talk over others, it’s disrespectful
HAVE TO AND MUST: Usamos have to para hablar de algo que tenemos que hacer. No es
urgente pero deberíamos hacerlo.

Por ejemplo - I have to clean my room (Tengo que limpiar mi habitación)

Usamos must para hablar de cosas que se tienen que hacer si o si, o que están prohibidas.

Por ejemplo - I must wear the uniform to school (Debo usar el uniforme para ir a la escuela)
You mustn’t smoke (No debes fumar)

Usamos esta fórmula:

Pronoun + Have to/Must/Mustn’t + Verb + Rest of the sentence

Make 3 sentences with have to, and 3 with must/mustn’t:

CAN AND CAN'T: Usamos can y can't para hablar de cosas que sabemos o no sabemos
hacer.

Por ejemplo - I can ride a bike (Puedo andar en bici)


I can't drive a car (No puedo manejar)

Vamos a usar esta fórmula

Pronoun + Can/Can't + Verb + Rest of the sentence

Let's make 6 sentences with can and can't:

WILL AND WON’T: Usamos will y won’t para hablar de cosas que vamos a hacer ya mismo,
o que son muy lejanas.

Por ejemplo - I will be right back (Ya vuelvo)


When I’m 30, I will buy a house (Cuando tenga 30, compraré una casa)
I won’t forget my friends when I grow up (No olvidaré a mis amigos cuando
crezca)

Usamos esta fórmula

Pronoun + Will/Won’t + Verb + Rest of the sentence
