Introduction
What is hospital or in patient Round?
There are a different ways that the hospitals have round. The most common way is
called “team rounding.” This is when the entire care team, including the doctor,
nurse, and other care providers, rounds on the patient together.
Inpatient rounds are when the medical team reviews the patient’s condition and
care plan with a group of inpatients. Giving your observations and asking questions
during rounds can benefit treatment planning and care coordination which allows
for better communication and coordination of care.
A hospital/inpatient/ Clinical Team rounds are when doctors , Nurses & other
professionals rounds in a hospital visits each patient in their assigned area to check
on their progress and to answer any questions they may have which is usually done
in the morning, but can be done at any time of day.

Objectives of Inpatient rounds


 To review each patients’ status and plan of care.
 To assess a patient’s condition,
 To review test results
 To discuss treatment options and
 To make changes to the plan of care through increasing Patient involvement
on his Care.
Types of Rounds
Bedside rounds
Bedside rounds are other types of rounds conducted when the doctor or nurse goes
to the patient’s bedside to check the patient’s condition. This is usually done for
patients who are very sick or who have complex medical needs.

A physician round
A physician round is a series of measurements that physicians, residents, and other
team members make on a regular basis in the morning to assess your health. When
you have a medical condition, it is a good time to discuss your treatment, progress,
and steps to return to your home.
Significance of Hospital Rounds

In patient round play a critical role in providing quality patient care. The majority
of rounds consist of an attending physician and several resident and student
trainees talking to nine patients for approximately two hours.
Rounds are used to develop and communicate a plan for each patient’s care during
the day.
Nurses are also important in ensuring that the three Ps met: potty, Position, & pain.
Round reduce patient anxiety, increase chance of Help including administering anti
pain.
Steps to rounding on hospital patients effectively
In order to round on hospital patients effectively, there are a few key things that
need to be done.
 First, it is important to introduce yourself to the patient and explain who you
are and what your role is on the hospital staff.
 Secondly, you will need to ask the patient how they are feeling and if they
have any concerns or questions.
 Finally, it is important to explain what the plan is for the patient’s care and
what they can expect in the coming days. By taking these steps, you can
ensure that you are providing the best possible care for your patients.
What Is Patient Rounding Process?
A patient rounding process is a system whereby health care providers
periodically check on patients in order to ensure that their needs are being met and
that they are progressing as expected. This may involve checking in on patients at
set intervals, or it may be a more general check-in to see how patients are doing.
The purpose of patient rounding is to improve communication between providers
and patients, to ensure that patients are receiving the care they need, and to identify
any potential problems early on.
General activities conducted in rounds and equipment needed
During in patient rounds a general examination was the primary focus including,
vital signs checking, medication revision, updating Lab investigation, assessing
patient Progress and other Findings are common activities conducted during in
patient round.
