Based upon the influent (to the wetland) concentra on of 256 mg BOD5/l and an average daily wastewater produc on of 12,000 liters
per day, average daily organic load (OL) is calculated to be:
O
L =
256 x
12,000
= 3.1
kg
BOD5 /
d
1,
000 x 1,
000
From figure 5 it can be concluded that a wetland should achieve an effluent concentra on of 50 mg/l 75% of the me when loaded at
not more than 120 kg/ha/d.
The required surface area is determined by dividing average daily organic load (3.1 kg BOD/d) by the chosen areal loading (120
kg/ha/d). A conversion factor of 10,000 has to be considered for conversion of hectares into square meters.
3.1x 10,000 2
S= = 260 m
120
The width (W) of the horizontal wetland is determined based upon the recommended organic cross-sec onal loading of 250 g BOD/m2/d (size of bed medium has to
be larger than 4 mm). Based upon an average daily organic load of 3.1 kg BOD/d, a design cross sec onal loading of 250 g BOD/m2/d and a saturated depth of the
filter medium of 0.60 meters, the width of the bed is calculated to be:
The minimum width of the wetland, based on organic loading, is 21.00 meters.
The length (L) of the HFCW is determined by the surface area of the wetland (260 m2) and the width (21.00 m) of the bed:
L = 260 = 12.50 m
21.00
B / Otherwise, if we consider the domes c laundry parameters and using the same method of calcula on, the exact dimension of the wetland will be as follows :
Surface = 48 m²
Wide = 3.84 m
Long = 12.5 m
Best regards.

Dear Mokthar,
1. What is the filtra on bed size? From plan, I measured approximately 7.2m x 4.5m, is that correct dimension? Or to be exact follow
item 3 in BOQ, filer pan dimension 7 x 4m ?
2. According to Hakim email dd 7/11, recommended bed size shall be 12.5(L) x 21(W) x 0.9m(D).
3. I no ce that BOQ total 4 sets pumpsets.
a) 2 sets for pumping sta on a er collec on from waste water tank collec on. ? c/w duty & standby pump?
b) 2 sets for irriga on earth basket area ? c/w duty & standby pump ?

Dear Mokthar,
Received 2nd quota on. Price much higher compare Clean Eau.
Can you request Clean Eau give BEST price?
Regards,
Ng Chan Chi
1-Further our meeting today please find attached second quotation for this project.
2- Yes, this project can be separately done
Thanks and best regards

Dear Hakim,
Please find a ached quota on to build wetland for wastewater treatment system for your comment.
The Kitchen + laundry consump on = 6 + 7 = 13 m3 / day as per men oned earlier email.
Can you advise dimension and capacity of wetland ?
Is there any local reference in Tunisia using such system?
Thank you.

Ng Chan Chi

Can you call quota on to get pricing from contractor?
Thanks.

further our last whatsapp meeting please find attached our proposal,
A)Calculation basis:
1-Kitchen (2 meals per person)
Kitchen for Hotel 5 *: 30 liter / bed
Consumption: 2x30x100 = 6m3 / day
2-Laundry room:
Ratios: 6 Kg linen per room
20 liter / kg of laundry
Consumption = 6x20x50 = 7m 3 / day
Kitchen + laundry consumption = 6 + 7 = 13 m3 / day
Hourly flow = 13 m3 / 2 hourly points: 13: 2 = 6.5m3 / h
Choice of pumps 2x6m3 / h HMT = 10 MCE
Useful volume of the pit (Uv)
Uv = Q / 4 n Q = 6m3 / h n=2
So Uv = 6/8 ≈ 1 m3
Filter bed size approx. 21 m² depending on available space
Storage tank capacity = 3 m3
B)Principle of operation:
The kitchen + laundry wastewater will be collected in the lifting pit from the grease trap. It is then pumped from the
pit to the filtration bed. A drainage system directs water to the underground storage pit to be pumped to the
sprinkler network.
When the storage pit is full, the excess water in the lifting pit will be diverted to the sight of the ONAS network by an
overflow. See attached diagram .

Dear Mokthar,
As we understand filtra on system is dependent on kitchen & laundry waste water discharge capacity. Thus, we shall
proceed to finalise the filtra on design while awai ng Earth Basket establishment. Are you able to check and firm up the
design so that we can move forward to call quota on and get contractor in building the system ready.
Thanks.

Dear Mokthar,
Pertaining to filtra on system under zone 2 area, with waste water collec on from kitchen & laundry.
I refer your proposal, whether following work flow is correct?
1. Waste water collec on to 2x2x3m depth tank c/w pumping sta on.
2. Next, water channel to monobloc filtra on tank with those sand, gravel, stone, etc.
3. Filtered water will flow to 3000L capacity water storage tank.
