'solidworks deepak-1' with you

The presentation provides an overview of SolidWorks, a design automation software used for creating parts, assemblies, and drawings. It explains the components of SolidWorks models, including parts, assemblies, and drawings, and outlines the basic steps for starting the software and modeling. Additionally, it covers various features and tools available for part modeling, viewing, and creating complex shapes.

SolidWorks
Introduction
(1) What is SolidWorks?
A Design Automation
Software Package Used to
Produce
• Parts
• Assemblies
• Drawings
SOLIDWORKS COMPONENTS -PARTS
Before we beginlooking at the software, it is important to
understand the different components that make up a
SolidWorks model.

➢The first, and most basic element of a SolidWorks model is a

Part.

➢Parts consist of primitivegeometry and featuressuch as

extrudes, revolutions, lofts, sweeps,etc.

➢Parts willbe the building blocks for allof the models that you
will create
SOLIDWORKS COMPONENTS -
ASSEMBLIES
• The second component is the assembly.
Assemblies are collections of parts which are
assembled in a particular fashion usingmates
(constraints).
• Any complex model will usually consist of one,
or many assemblies.
SOLIDWORKS COMPONENTS -
DRAWINGS
• The third, and final component in
SolidWorks is theDrawing.

• A drawing is the typical way to represent a 3D

model such that any engineer (or
manufacturer) can recreate yourpart.

• Drawings are important because theyprovide

a standard way of sharing yourdesign.

WHICH SURFACE FEATURE
TOUSE?
◼ Dissimilar or multiple profiles/Guides and need it
to be solid: Use Loft

◼ Similar profiles but change along lengthof

shape: Use Sweep

◼ Three or five or more boundaries: Use Fill

◼ For high qualitysurfaces-only and C2 in both

directions: Use Boundary

◼ For modifying surfaces dynamically andwithout

sketches: Use FreeForm
