ABSTRACT
The Developing Sustainable Water Management System initiative was designed to
assess and implement effective water conservation and management strategies in rural
areas. Conducted by Vemana Institute of Technology students under the guidance of
Vidvath India Foundation (R), this program involved identifying existing water
management plants, ponds, water harvesting locations, and drip irrigation systems
across various villages in Arakere Grama Panchayathi. The study aimed to enhance water
conservation practices, optimize resource utilization, and promote sustainable
irrigation techniques. This report provides a comprehensive analysis of the activities
carried out, key findings, and recommendations for future improvements.

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

Water is a critical resource, and effective management is essential for sustainable

agricultural and domestic use. Rural areas often face challenges such as water scarcity,
inefficient irrigation systems, and lack of awareness regarding water conservation
techniques. This project aimed to identify water management systems in the selected
villages, analyze their effectiveness, and propose solutions for better water utilization.
Through field visits, farmer interactions, and technological assessments, students
formulated strategies to optimize water usage and enhance sustainability.
