The detailed procedure for testing the scope item People Profile Maintenance in SAP SuccessFactors after
solution activation is described in the following. Each process step is covered in its own section.
The data contained in the employee’s profile is grouped into blocks. It is used in further processes, like for
example performance management, development management, recruiting, and compensation. Depending on
the modules (applications) enabled in the SAP SuccessFactors instance, different blocks may be visible in
the People Profile. Several blocks might also be filled with data from these applications, like for example
Performance History, or Performance-Potential Historical Matrix Grid Placement Trend that related to
performance or succession.
The employee can maintain his or her own People Profile. The employee’s manager can view and maintain the
profiles on behalf of his or her direct reports.
Care should be taken when edit permissions are given to the employee group: in case the customer uses the
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central module or any other Core HR application, the data transferred from
this application, like for example Personal Information, should not be editable in the People profile! Only talent
related data, contained in so-called background elements, should be editable.
This section summarizes all prerequisites needed to conduct the test in terms of system, user, master data,
organizational data, and other test data and business conditions.
Your SAP SuccessFactors instance must be configured with People Profile set up with appropriate permissions
for employees to write to their own People Profile and for managers to view and maintain the People Profiles on
behalf of their direct reports.
