NSS Cleaning Drive Report

Location: Kondeshwar Temple, Badnera

Organized by: NSS Unit, Prof. Ram Meghe Institute of Technology and Research, Badnera
Participants: VII NSS Volunteers

I. Introduction
Cleanliness is crucial for maintaining a hygienic lifestyle, especially at public and religious sites
like Kondeshwar Temple. To promote environmental awareness, the NSS unit organized a
cleaning drive, reinforcing the National Service Scheme’s mission to engage students in
community service.

II. Objectives
- Restore cleanliness and hygiene at Kondeshwar Temple.
- Promote awareness about waste management.
- Encourage devotees to dispose of waste properly.
- Instill a sense of responsibility among NSS volunteers.
- Reduce plastic use and encourage eco-friendly habits.

III. Planning & Preparation


Volunteers visited the site to assess issues, obtained permissions from authorities, and arranged
cleaning materials (gloves, garbage bags, brooms, and dustbins). Tasks were assigned, including
garbage collection, awareness campaigning, and waste segregation.

IV. Execution of the Cleaning Drive


**Activities Conducted:**
- Removed litter, plastic waste, and garbage.
- Swept and disinfected pathways and prayer areas.
- Cleaned water sources near the temple.
- Installed dustbins for better waste management.
- Conducted awareness campaigns on cleanliness and hygiene.

V. Challenges Faced
- Resistance from some visitors in following cleanliness practices.
- Lack of sufficient dustbins.
- Difficulty in removing stubborn waste materials.
- Managing large amounts of plastic waste.
- Hot weather conditions making the effort challenging.

VII. Conclusion & Future Recommendations


The NSS cleaning drive successfully promoted environmental conservation and community
welfare. However, cleanliness is an ongoing process that requires continuous efforts.

**Recommendations:**
- Conduct regular cleanliness awareness sessions for devotees.
- Install more dustbins around the temple.
- Collaborate with local municipal bodies for waste collection support.
- Involve more volunteers and local communities.
- Promote eco-friendly materials instead of plastic.
