1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Order

By order of Zingametall bvba in Eke, Belgium, the Centrum voor Onderzoek en Technisch advies
(COT bv) in Haarlem, The Netherlands, has performed a neutral Salt Spray Test according to ISO
9227 NSS of Zinga 2 x 90 ~m dry film thickness.

The order has been given by signing the COT quotation LAB10-0234-0FF on 24 February 2010.

1.2 Samples

Samples Coated steel test panels with 2 layers Zinga (2 x 90 ~m DFT)

COT sample number 22-02-10/0175 B

Received 19 February 2010

2 PAINT APPLICATION

The Zinga system has been applied at Zingametall bvba.

Specified Dry Film Thickness: 2 layers, 90 ~m dry film thickness per layer

3 NEUTRAL SALT SPRAY TEST

In total 12 panels have been placed in a salt spray cabinet according to ISO 9227 (COT instruction
30.01.27). In the cabinet a 5 % NaCi solution is sprayed at a temperature of 35 ± 10 ( , The
amount of the collected spray is between 1 and 2 ml per hour per 80 cm 2 , the pH of the collected
spray is 6.5 - 7.2 and the salt concentration of the collected spray is 5.0 ± 0.5% (m/m).
Before the start of the salt spray test a vertical scribe in the coating till the substrate has been
made in all panels, the wide of the scribe was about 0.3 mm.

The start of the salt spray test was 16-03-2010.


Inspections have been done at several times on the following panels:
720 hours panels 8, 13 and 14 15-04-2010
1440 hours panels 9, 15 and 16 14-05-2010
2000 hours panels 24, 25 and 26 08-06-2010
2500 hours panels 27, 28 and 29 29-06-2010

During the inspections the corrosion of the substrate from the scribe has been measured and the
rust on the surface has been determined according to ISO 4628-3.

5 CONCLUSION

The system 2 layers Zinga, dry film thickness 90 IJm per layer (COT sample number
22-02-10/0175 B), shows no rust on the panels after 2500 hours Neutral Salt Spray test according
to ISO 9227 NSS.
