VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

On behalf of Geological Survey of Tanzania (GST) Public Service Recruitment


Secretariat (PSRS) invites dynamic and suitable qualified Tanzanians to fill six (6)
vacant posts as mentioned below;

The Geological Survey of Tanzania (GST) is a Scientific Department under the


Tanzanian government. The scientists of the GST investigate the landscape of Tanzania,
as well as its natural resources and potential hazards. The work of the organization is
interdisciplinary and includes biology, geography, geology, and hydrology. The GST is a
fact-finding scientific group without that works with the Ministry of Minerals. In 1925 the
agency was established under the British colonial government.

1.1 ASSISTANT TECHNICIAN (MINERAL LABORATORY) – 6 POSTS.


1.1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Assisting in the preparation of reagents and apparatus for analytical works;
ii. Assisting in the reception of samples from geology department, small scale
miners and mining companies;
iii. Assisting in conducting fire assay, base metals, major and trace elements
analysis and water analysis;
iv. Assisting in preparing samples for chemical analysis;
v. Assisting in preparing samples for petrography, mineral processing and
mineralogical studies; and
vi. Performing any other official duties assigned by his immediate Supervisor.

1.1.2 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Holder of form IV/VI certificate and Trade Test Grade II/Level II or Certificate or
Technicians Certificate in Mineral Laboratory from recognized institution.

1.1.3 SALARY SCALE – GSTS 2.

GENERAL CONDITIONS:
i. All applicants must be Citizens of Tanzania with an age not above 45 years except
for those who are in Public Service;

o Professional Registration and Training Certificates from respective
o Registration or Regulatory Bodies, (where applicable).
o Birth certificate.
vi. Attaching copies of the following certificates is strictly not accepted: -
o Form IV and form VI results slips.
o Testimonials and all Partial transcripts.
vii. An applicant must upload recent Passport Size Photo in the Recruitment Portal.
viii. An applicant who is retired from the Public Service for whatever reason should not
apply.
ix. An applicant should indicate three reputable referees with their reliable contacts
x. Certificates from foreign examination bodies for Ordinary or Advanced level
education should be verified by The National Examination Council of Tanzania

(NECTA).
xii. Professional certificates from foreign Universities and other training institutions
should be verified by The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) and
National Council for Technical Education (NACTE).
xiii. A signed application letter should be written either in Swahili or English and
