Bazi Analysis – Brief discussion on Wealth

An average person spends most of his/her waking hours in the pursuit of wealth. Thus, this simple article will
barely touch the surface on how one can apply Bazi in the analysis of wealth generation. This article is restricted
to only readings for those with the presence of Wealth elements in the charts.

Firstly, the multiple ways of how one becomes wealthy – by inheritance, marriage, work or business would denote
that there are multiple ways to read one’s Bazi natal chart on matters relating to wealth. Even with entrepreneurial
efforts, the methods include capacity-based work, intermediary gains, agency, networking, etc. One can be wealthy
by investing, speculating, gambling and leveraging. One can even make money by being attractive.

Secondly, the focus on wealth does not necessarily mean the focus on the Wealth element alone. The reading
goes beyond a narrow focus.

A popular question askers tend to ask Bazi practitioners is “Will I be rich?” Generally, the standard answer is–
NO!. The reason is that the question denotes that the asker does not think himself/herself as yet be rich. The
question denotes that being rich is fated and the asker wants to know whether he/she is destined to be rich. Such
question would mean the asker does not know how to be rich and does not think that efforts and sacrifices are
needed. Without knowing how to be rich and expecting wealth to merely fall unto one’s lap is the main reason why
the answer is a resounding no. The correct question to ask is “How do I become rich?”.

Anyway, let’s begin with those born rich. Like the meme “The fastest way to become a millionaire is to start as a
billionaire”, those with the ‘born rich’ Bazi natal chart would denote favourable wealth elements in the Year Stems.

For example, the rich socialite born into wealth, Paris Hilton [17
Feb 1981 2:30am] has Direct Wealth in the Year Stem and Indirect
Wealth in the Month Stem.

The Year Pillar Xin You (辛酉) is in the Thriving Stage (based on
the 12 Stages of Growth). This would denote that she was born
into ancestral wealth (grandparents’ money).

It is ideal to have a strong self with strong

wealth element as well. For example, Kim
Kardashian was born on 21 October 1980 in
the Snake hour. Her Year pillar is Geng Shen
(庚申) which is also a Thriving pillar (based
on the 12 Stages of Growth).

Moreover, she has the ‘Direct Wealth meeting

Rob Wealth’. When Direct Wealth meets Rob
Wealth in a BaZi chart, it can indicate either
potential for sudden wealth/gains in a
person's life or sudden loss. This could be through unexpected
opportunities, such as receiving an inheritance, winning a lottery, or discovering a new source of income.

It is not merely counting the number of wealth stars appearing but the quality (grading in terms of strengths –
seasons and stages of growth).

What Happens when a Rob Wealth Star Counters a Direct Wealth Star

Since a DayMaster's Direct Wealth Star represents money or income that is generated through salaried, stable and
hence legal means, this scenario can mean the loss of wealth, arising from one’s misdeeds. It would be even
possible for one to incur losses, through one's inclination to speculate and bet on farfetched outcomes.

Indeed, a DayMaster's greed and lust - especially for gambling and alcohol — could well bring about his or her
downfall. In addition, male DayMasters may also tend to overindulge in wine, women and song; since the Direct
Wealth Star also represents alcohol and women. Obviously, married male DayMasters will only cause their wives
much misery and ill-fortune, should they choose to indulge in such an unhealthy lifestyle.

How will Death and Emptiness affects the person?

If Direct Wealth is in Emptiness, the readings would reveal the person having the tendency as follows:
 Intolerant. The person micromanages everyone else and is not open to ideas.
 Retrenchment; loss of job/livelihood; termination of employment.
 Indicates someone who is thrifty – to a point it is a problem.
 For a man, it hints of relationship problems with his wife.

If Indirect Wealth is in Emptiness:

 Loss of money/wealth/financial means
 Indicates relationship problems with the person's father
 Even if marriage is on the cards, it may be delayed or postponed

Does the type of DayMasters matter?

Obviously, any Daymaster can attain wealth. The list of wealthy people can be found amongst all elements and
structure. The propensity to generate wealth could be found amongst those with Wealth protruded into the
heavens (especially those rooted) and sits at the side of the Daymasters.

Weak DM with Abundant Wealth

The phrase 财多身弱,富屋贫人 means “Abundance of wealth but self is weak, a servant in a mansion”. This is
observed when the Daymaster is weak. This may be the case of a Daymaster born out of season or unrooted and
there are many wealth elements which are dominant. In ancient literature, this phenomenon is perceived to be
unfavourable. It denotes that the weak Daymaster is unable to control the more domineering wealth element in
the chart. The person is expected to be greedy for money and would be subservient in the struggle to attain and
retain wealth.

However, the ‘remedy’ or strategy is to seek opportunities to be just that – to be in a place to earn 1% from
dominant sources of wealth belonging to other people. Thus, a weak Self with strong Wealth should seek agency,
networking, and managerial roles.

Weaker recommendations would be for the person to seek employment within a large and structured organisation.

 Sir John Marks Templeton (29 November 1912 – 8 July 2008) was
an American-born British investor, banker, fund manager, and
philanthropist.

A DayMaster with strong Wealth and Officer elements can mean that the person enjoys wealth and fame. In
general, a person with favourable Wealth and Officer is born intelligent, systematic, dignified and careful. They
manage their finances well. Success in career comes early; work, business and official careers are successful.

Generally, a DayMaster without any wealth element has no affinity with it. Such person would have difficulty in
manging their finances and usually would not welcome the arrival of wealth elements as guest elements.

The exception would be for those belonging to Special Structures. E.g. a Day Master with no wealth element
but belonging to the Super Vibrant category can still attain substantial wealth.
