The calculation report details the output torque, RPM range, and energy value range for an orbital motor application, indicating that output energy equals input energy under the assumption of no losses. The OMS80 motor was selected based on its performance curve, achieving a maximum continuous operation torque of 1327.61 lbin and an output RPM of 236. Additionally, the report calculates the service factor and effective torque for the reducer, ensuring it meets operational requirements.

Calculation report

1).Output torque=5000lbft

=60000lbin

= 6779.09Nm

2).Output RPM range= (5-10) RPM

3).Energy value range =output torque*min RPM- output torque*max RPM

=60000*5-60000*10

=30 000 -60 000

Let’s assume there is no energy losses.

4).due to that reason input energy should remain same at the end. So, output energy is equal to input
energy.

Other requirements we considered when selecting orbital motor,

#5HP hydraulic power pack will be used.

#selecting most efficient orbital motor for this application

By analyzing performance curve it’s realized that the oms80 has the most suitable performance curve
which satisfy above conditions.
Iterative process carried out to find reducers and corresponding orbital motor. That happened because
of dependent parameters each components (reducer and orbital motor) have.

Then below value selected as output torque and RPM of orbital motor,(these values lies in range of
78+% efficiency and satisfy HP requirement)

Torque=1327.61lbin (150 Nm) [maximum continuous operation torque]

Output RPM=236

5).ratio found using below equation

Output torque/input torque= 60000/1327.61 =45.01

Output RPM=236/45.01=5.2 (approximately 5RPM)

Selected RR810D FS R=45.01

6).According to rule of thumb maximum torque which can generate during the operation by the reducer
given by following equation.

T2max=1.5*7000=1050daNm

That’s the maximum permissible torque of the reducer can withstand

7).service factor for the reducer

So service factor 0.9 is selected

9) Calculating continuous effective torque

T2eff=T2a*fs

=6779.09Nm *0.9

=6101.1Nm

=610.1daNm

(The following relation always have to be verified)

T2> T2effe
