STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

I am Tawsif Mustasin Rafin, and I am writing to express my strong interest in pursuing the
Master of Science in Instructional Technology at Touro University. With a passion for
technology and education, I am eager to combine my background in computer science with
innovative instructional design to create impactful digital learning environments that address
real-world educational challenges—particularly in my home country, Bangladesh.

Academic and Professional Background

I completed my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from BRAC


University, one of the premier institutions in Bangladesh, in 2023. My coursework included
programming, data structures, machine learning, databases, and system design, which built a
strong technical foundation. During this time, I engaged in several academic projects, including a
Hospital Management System, an Online Financial System, and research on "A Comparative
Study of Lung Cancer Prediction Using Deep Learning" and "Smart Voice Signature: A
Machine Learning Approach to Speaker Identification." These experiences helped me
develop a sharp analytical mindset and a practical approach to solving complex problems.

Professionally, I have held roles in software development, cybersecurity, and IT


management. As a Cybersecurity Analyst and QA Engineer at SoftBD Ltd., I worked on
government platforms and conducted vulnerability scans and security audits. I also gained
experience as a Software Developer at Name Space IT and currently serve as a Business IT
Executive at Notionhive, where I manage system improvements and digital strategy. These roles
sharpened my understanding of how digital platforms can influence human learning, behavior,
and engagement—prompting my growing interest in instructional technology.

Why Instructional Technology

The intersection of technology and education has never been more important, especially in
developing countries like Bangladesh where access to quality education is still limited. I believe
that instructional technology can bridge this gap by offering scalable, flexible, and engaging
learning solutions. My goal is to learn how to design, evaluate, and implement instructional
systems that effectively leverage digital tools, AI, and multimedia to enhance learning outcomes
across varied educational settings.

The MS in Instructional Technology at Touro University is the ideal program for this pursuit.
With a duration of approximately 1.5 to 2 years, it provides a comprehensive understanding of
learning theories, curriculum design, multimedia integration, and e-learning development. The
program's practical focus and alignment with emerging technologies make it a perfect fit for my
technical skills and educational ambitions.

Touro University’s reputation for academic excellence, commitment to innovation in education,


and student-centered learning environment are key reasons I have chosen this institution. I am
particularly drawn to the program’s blend of theoretical knowledge and real-world application.

Career Goals

After completing the program, I intend to return to Bangladesh and contribute to the growing
EdTech sector by launching a platform that offers affordable, interactive, and personalized
digital education for students in underserved regions. My goal is to collaborate with schools,
NGOs, and government agencies to digitize curricula, train teachers, and build digital literacy
initiatives. I aim to integrate tools like learning management systems, gamified content, and AI-
based assessment to make education more accessible and engaging.

In the long run, I envision building an organization that not only develops digital learning tools
but also provides research-based solutions to improve instructional delivery across South Asia.
By combining my technological expertise with insights gained from this program, I am confident
in my ability to drive educational transformation in my region.

While I am excited about the opportunity to study in the United States, my heart and long-term
goals are rooted in Bangladesh. I come from a close-knit, family-oriented background, and I am
committed to using my skills to give back to my community and country. Pursuing a Master’s at
Touro University is not just a personal ambition—it is a strategic step toward becoming a change
