Session Objective: By the end of the lesson, the learner will be able to read and identify the
gist of a short text.
Subsidiary Objective: The learner will be able to apply skimming and scanning techniques to
enhance reading.
Anticipated Problems: The learner may encounter challenges when identifying the main idea
of the text.
Solutions: Targeted questions to guide the learners in analysing and understanding the text
more effectively.
Materials: Pictures or Flashcards – The Board.
Procedure
The teacher warmly greets the learners and engages them in a fun game to T-
activate their prior knowledge, by asking them to read some words such as: L

Here the teacher must model proper pronunciation, intonation, use body
language and facial expressions, include pauses at different punctuation marks
to emphasize and clarify the meaning. T-
