Dinners Reflection

Before going into this assignment I was very nervous. I didn't really know Lucy super

well even though this had been our second semester together but it definitely seemed like a

challenge. So the build up to the actual dinner was very anxiety driven. But once we finally met

up I just let go and just started asking questions. Turns out we both can talk a lot and we have a

lot of good stories to tell and fun things to share. I shared some stuff from my theater experience

in high school and my experience with theater as a whole. She shared the same thing. We also

talked about the Oscars and our thoughts and opinions as a whole which is something I can

totally yap about.so when the 10 minutes were up we were both very surprised with ourselves

that we got through that time fast. So all that anxiety just turned into confidence about showing it

to the class. For the most part we got everything right. I think there might have been some things

we missed or moved around chronologically in our conversation. I also totally forgot to say that I

had a director who slapped an actor (she will tell you I told her in the convo but I definitely did

not). Something it taught me about acting was to feel natural and on your toes the whole time.

Going through a long running show and doing the same thing over and over can be very taxing

on the body and mind of a person. There will be a lot of moments where you forget a line or

forget the order of a certain scene. But acting calm and normal and picking it up from what you

know can always help you. Not showing the audience that something is wrong is key. The

majority of people seeing the show are seeing the show for the first time ever. If you really mess
up the majority of people won't notice the mess up. It taught me to just stay confident and to

really take my scene partner in as a person. Also just listening to your partner and hearing them

as you're doing a task. Connecting with your partner. This at times was a very confusing

exercise. But once I realized how fun it was, I took an opportunity to just get to know a

classmate.
