Activities: Teacher should carry out activities with pupils in these areas :

Objectives: At the end of the lesson ,pupils should be able to fill the missing
numbers between 1-10.

Activities: Teacher should guide pupils to fill in missing numbers

pupils to say how many and then write them down .

Objectives: At the end of the lesson , pupils should be able to read , write , take
down in dictation, fill in , match, and do skip counting.

Activities: Teacher tells the pupils that it is improper to waste our food by not
eating it. Also, it is improper to eat too much food.

Activities: The teacher explains the characteristics of insects showing their

are birds and state the main characteristics of birds.

Topic: Classify leaves by their shapes . Leave album

Objectives: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to put up a simple
classification of leaves by their shapes and alaso make a leaf album.

Materials: Leaves of different shapes from the school garden.

Activities: The teacher directs the collection of leaves by the pupils around the
school environment. And he further explains the various leaves collected.

Objectives: At the end of the lesson , pupils should be able to mention a few
functions of leaves to plants , and the environment.

Week 1 & 2

Topic ; Heating and cooling

Objectives : At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to state what happens
when a substance in heated and it cools.

Lesson: 2 Lessons

Materials: water (ice) , oil, heater(stove)

Activities: The teacher should carry out practicals in the class to demonstrate
what happens when you heat or cool some substances.

Evaluation: oral evaluation

NB :The teacher should not heat oil in class. Ice should be heated to melt and oil
cooled to solidify .

Week 3&4

Objectives: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to state which objects
uses electricity and which does not .

Lesson: 2 Lessons

Materials: blender, toaster, clipper, TV etc

Activities: The teacher should run some of these equipments in class to show that
they depend electricity to function.

Week 5& 6

Topic: Natural and man made light

Objectives : At the end of the leson , pupils should be able to distinguish between
natural and man made lights .

Lesson: 2 Lessons

Materials: torch, lantern, lamps, sunlight

Activities: The teacher should demonstrate the main difference between natural
and man made light i.e man- made light can be turned off. Sun light can not be
turned off by man .

Evaluation: Lesson should be evaluated practically.

Week 7 & 8

Topic: Rivers of the world

Objectives: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to mention the rivers of
the world .

Lesson: 2 Lessons

Materials: The atlas and the globe

Topic: Dangers in school and prevention

constitute danger in the school environment and how to avoid it.

Materials: Things and places around the school to which pupils are denied access
e.g pits, electric sockets etc.

Activities; The teacher should explain the danger in such things and areas and
how the pupils can avoid it.

RHYMES

The teacher should break the content of the nursery rhymes for pre-primary bk 2
( LISTED IN THE RECEPTION LIST OF BOOKS) into three terms and each of the
terms into ten weeks.

walking round the class and taking excuses before the pupils .

Topic: Weeding of flower birds

between flowers and weeds on the flower beds and to weed the flower neatly.

Activities: The teacher take s out the pupils to the flower beds beside the class to
carry out the weeding exercises .

Evaluation: Ask questions on fowers and weeds growing aroud school and homes.

Topic: Saying thank you

further do the same.

Week 9 & 10

Topic: Behaviour on outing

Objectives: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to understand the need
to maintain decorum on an outing and when it is necessary to do so.

NB: An excursion can be organized on this to refresh the childrens memory.
