Hello everyone, my name is … and my name is…. I’m in group 2.

Today we will talk

about air pollution. Before the presentation, we are going to introduce group
members. They are …
Our presentation has 6 parts. …..( nhìn slide )

DEFINITION
First, we need to understand what air pollution is. Air pollution is the presence or
increase of harmful substances in the air, negatively affecting human health,
animals, plants, and the environment. These pollutants may include emissions from
vehicles, factories, fine dust, smoke, toxic chemicals, and microplastic particles in
the air. Air pollution can degrade air quality, cause respiratory diseases, contribute to
climate change, and lead to serious environmental problems. Therefore, clean and
fresh air is extremely important for everyone.
CAUSES
About the main causes, the main causes of air pollution include vehicle emissions,
industrial activities, and the burning of fossil fuels. Transportation and factories
release harmful gases like CO₂( carbon dioxide ), NO₂ (nitrogen dioxide ), and SO₂(
sulfur dioxide ), while burning coal, oil, and gas increases air pollution. Other causes
include wildfires, crop burning, construction dust, and improper waste disposal.
These factors degrade air quality and harm human health and the environment.

Consequences Of Air Pollution

Air pollution is becoming more serious these days, therefore it deals a blow to both
humans and the ecosystem.

-Harming human health:

Firstly, air pollution is one of the main causes of diseases of humans. Long-term
exposure to the low-qualified atmosphere drives humans to be more vulnerable to
severe illnesses, especially those of the respiratory system, such as asthma.
Moreover, poisonous pollutants such as benzene or diesel exhausts are the root of
lung cancer. Air pollution does not only affect the respiratory system but also the
cardiovascular one, this may result in heart attacks or high blood pressure, and fine
particulate matter (PM2.5) and nitrogen oxides increase the risk of these problems.
For example, According to the World Health Organization, an estimated seven
million people die each year from air pollution. More than 4,000 people died in just a
few months due to a severe smog event that occurred in London in 1952.
-Harming the ecosystem:
Secondly, wildlife and plants suffer from air pollution in terms of health and growing
processes. Animals can experience the same negative effects of air pollution that
humans do. Damage to the Respiratory system is the most common impact on
wildlife, but neurological problems and skin irritations are also common. So what
about the plants? Plants and crops grow less when exposed to long-term air
pollution. The contaminated and poisonous chemicals in the polluted air pose a
threat to the soil condition, leading to soil erosion. This consequently results in low
productivity in agriculture
-Making a hole in the ozone layer:
The hole in the ozone layer is caused by air pollutants. Chemicals used as
refrigerants contain chlorine atoms. Releasing chlorine atoms into the atmosphere
destroys ozone. A single chlorine atom can destroy thousands of ozone molecules.
The larger hole of the ozone layer enables a greater deal of ultraviolet radiation harm
our skin.

SOLUTION:
Reducing air pollution requires a combination of government policies, technological
advancements, and individual actions.
Firstly, Governments should enforce stricter emission laws, regulate industrial
pollution, and invest in clean energy sources like solar, wind, and hydroelectric
power to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Expanding and improving public
transportation, promoting electric vehicles, and encouraging carpooling can
significantly cut vehicle emissions.
Secondly, Industries must adopt cleaner technologies, improve waste management,
and implement sustainable practices to minimize their environmental impact.
Moreover, On an individual level, people can contribute by using energy-efficient
appliances, reducing waste, and supporting eco-friendly products. Planting more
trees and creating green spaces can help absorb pollutants and improve air quality.
Raising awareness about the harmful effects of air pollution and advocating for
sustainable policies will further drive positive change. By working together, we can
create a cleaner, healthier environment for future generations.

CONCLUSION:
In conclusion, reducing air pollution is not only vital for improving public health and
protecting the environment but also for ensuring a sustainable future for generations
to come. By implementing stronger government policies, encouraging technological
advancements, and promoting individual responsibility, we can significantly decrease
harmful emissions and enhance the quality of life for all. It is a collective effort that
requires commitment from all sectors of society, and through these actions, we can
create a cleaner, healthier world for future generations.
