I. Leadership Assessment & Team Dynamics

Our team completed the Robbins DISC assessment and discovered a balanced mix of dominant,
influential, steady and conscientious profiles. We excel in creative problem-solving and rapid
decision‐making while providing supportive collaboration. Our key insight was that while our
diversity of leadership styles fuels innovation, it may also lead to miscommunications under
pressure. To overcome this, we’ve instituted regular check-ins via our group discussion forum
and maintained a shared wiki for transparent updates. This approach leverages our strengths and
mitigates potential blind spots, ensuring a resilient and adaptable team dynamic.

II. Company Foundation

Business Idea: Eco Star Business is a startup dedicated to creating innovative, eco-friendly
products that transform everyday living into sustainable experiences.

Mission Statement: “To inspire and empower sustainable living by developing accessible,
innovative eco-friendly solutions that enhance everyday environments.”

Core Values: Innovation, Sustainability, Integrity, Customer-Centricity, and Collaboration.

Hiring Criteria for Key Team Members: We seek candidates who demonstrate a deep passion for
sustainability, possess relevant technical or operational expertise, thrive in dynamic startup
environments, and align with our cultural values of innovation and collaboration.

III. Founder Simulations

a. Mock Interviews:

Each team member drafted a candidate profile based on Y Combinator’s questions. The profiles
underscored critical factors: alignment with Eco Star Business’s vision, complementary skills,
and a genuine commitment to eco-friendly innovation. Our evaluation process highlighted that a
successful co-founder must balance technical proficiency with strategic thinking and cultural fit.

b. Equity Negotiations:

Recognizing different contributions, we propose a tiered equity model:

• Co-founder A (full-time commitment): Receives a higher equity share reflecting full-time
dedication and opportunity costs.

• Co-founder B (part-time involvement): Earns a moderate share based on evening and

weekend contributions.

• Co-founder C (joining later in a key role): Secures equity proportionate to strategic impact in
marketing and fundraising.

These terms are formalized in our Founders’ Agreement, which also addresses roles, IP
ownership, and future incentives.

c. Hiring Scenarios:

Our debate weighed hiring seasoned professionals against high-potential emerging talent. While
experienced hires offer immediate expertise, emerging talent can grow with our startup’s vision
and optimize costs. Our balanced hiring plan initially targets high-potential candidates for an
Operations & Product Manager role, complemented by mentorship from senior consultants. The
job posting features a compelling title, a brief company snapshot emphasizing Eco Star
Business’s mission, clear responsibilities, essential and desirable qualifications, and a direct call-
to-action for applications.

IV. Debrief & Reflection

Our collaborative journey has reinforced the value of self-awareness and structured negotiation.
Although diverse leadership styles occasionally introduced challenges, our proactive
communication strategies ensured effective conflict resolution. Key lessons include the
importance of aligning individual contributions with the company vision, embracing transparent
feedback, and adapting negotiation strategies to sustain long-term growth. These insights not
only strengthen our team dynamics but also prepare us for the real-world challenges of
entrepreneurship.
