Why this Course
The objectives of the programme are:
1. To provide a critical review of concepts and principles of Management and relation with Business
Analytics
2. To enhance the understanding of business strategies with the help of Business Analytics to achieve
organisational goals
3. To identify organisational problems in the context of Business Analytics
4. To develop conceptual understanding of Big Data and Data Analytics
5. To identify appropriate metrics for development of effective Business Reports
6. To develop skills related to Data Visualization to produce reports aimed at improving Business
performance
7. To apply contemporary tools in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
8. To identify relevant organization problems and report to management using Descriptive statistics
9. To develop predictive framework to proactively identify potential problems
10. To apply supervised and un-supervised learning to business problems and prescribe suitable solutions
11. To train on appropriate software to facilitate decision making
12. To train the students in team work, life long learning and continuous improvement

Course Aim and Summary
This course deals with essentials of data management. Students are introduce to
database life cycle management and integration and data mining concepts with
particular emphasis on data analysis. Students will be taught to build data
infrastructure for warehousing large datasets from varied sources including ERP. In
particular emphasis will be given on mining, managing data like financial and
marketing data marts, supply chain scorecards using appropriate tools and ensuring
data privacy and data protection in compliance with corporate policies and
regulatory bodies.

After undergoing this Course students will be able to:

1. Discuss the importance of Data Management, Data integration and


Data mining for Business decision making
2. Discuss database management life cycle, analytics and decision support
3. Identify, mine and manage data using appropriate tools
4. Design suitable data infrastructure needed to collect large datasets
efficiently from varied sources including ERP
5. Ensure data governance, data privacy and data protection in
compliance with corporate policies and regulatory bodies

Method of Assessment
There are two components for assessment in this course:
Component ‐ 1: 50% weight (CE)
• Course Leader can choose from the following at their discretion:
Assignment/ Case Study discussion/ Surprise Quiz/ Field work/
Role play/ Poster presentation/ Group Discussion/ Video
demonstration/ Write ups/ Debate / Term paper
Component ‐ 2: 50% weight (SEE) -Mandatory Attendance
• A three hour duration semester end examination for a maximum
of 100 marks will be conducted and reduced to 50% weight
• Assessment questions are set to test the learning outcomes. In
each component certain learning outcomes are assessed.
