The document outlines a series of experiments for the CH353 Design and Simulation Lab, focusing on the analysis of various chemical systems. It includes tasks such as plotting molar volumes, generating reports on physical properties, creating VLE data, and calculating bubble and dew points for specified binary systems. Additionally, it involves plotting ternary diagrams and P-T envelopes for selected mixtures.

CH353 Design and Simulation Lab
Experiment #1 (Batch II)
1. Plot the molar volume for the following pure component as a function of temperature and pressure (Use NRTL) a. Nitromethane b. Acetic Acid 2. For the following binary system with composition (0.7/0.3 wt. %) at a temperature of 40ºC and pressure of 1 bar, generate a report with the required physical properties (viscosity, surface tension, thermal conductivity, density, and heat capacity of a mixture). a. Benzene/Toluene b. Propanol/Butanol 3. For the following binary systems generate VLE data and plot T-x-y and P-x-y plots. Use UNIQUAQ and Peng-Robinson thermodynamic property methods and analyse the results by merging the plots of both the methods. a. Methyl Ethyl Ketone and Toluene b. Heptane and Ethyl Benzene 4. Plot the bubble and dew point temperature, as a function of pressure for the following binary system a. Ethanol/Ethyl Formate (Use Wilson Model) b. Formic Acid/Ethyl Formate (Use UNIFAC Model) 5. For the following binary systems, calculate the bubble P, dew P, bubble T and dew T giving the respective inputs in each case. a. Methyl Isobutyl Ketone/ Methyl isobutyl ketone b. Ethyl Acetate/ n-heptane 6. Plot the ternary diagram (LLE) and residue curves for the following systems a. Acetic Acid/Water/Chloroform b. Acetone/Methyl Ethyl Ketone/Water 7. Plot P-T envelop for any binary systems a. CO2(1)/Methylcyclopentane(2) b. Ethane (1)/propane(2)
