Project Overview
• Automatic plant watering systems generally aim to optimize irrigation
by automating the watering process based on real-time soil moisture
levels.
• This project, however, focuses on implementing this concept
specifically for small-scale agricultural sectors, including greenhouse
farming, horticulture, hydroponics, floriculture, and household plant
care. By leveraging soil moisture detection, this system ensures
efficient water usage while reducing waste, offering a practical
solution tailored to these sectors.
Problem Statement
• Agricultural Sectors (Greenhouse Farming, Horticulture,
Hydroponics, Floriculture):
1. Prototype Demonstration:
Create a working prototype to demonstrate the real-time control system for both
agricultural sectors and household plants, showcasing practical application
2. Water Efficiency: Reduce water wastage by activating the system only when the
soil moisture level is below the required threshold.
3. System Automation:
Develop an automated watering system that activates/deactivates the pump based
on real-time soil moisture levels, ensuring efficient irrigation.
4. Sensors & Feedback Integration:
Integrate soil moisture sensors with the Arduino microcontroller to dynamically
control watering, reducing water waste and ensuring optimal plant hydration.
Scope of the Project
Target Environments:
•Agricultural Sectors:
• Greenhouse Farming Companies
• Horticulture Companies
• Hydroponics and Aquaponics Companies
• Floriculture Companies
House Plants:
Individuals looking for a reliable, hands-free solution for
watering house plants.

• Software:
• Proteus (for simulation)
Methodology
Phase 1: Software Development
The software portion of the project has already been completed
during the semester project, focusing on simulating the watering
system using Proteus.
Phase 2: Prototype Development
Based on the software design, the next step will involve
implementing the practical prototype using the Arduino, sensors, and
other hardware components.
