B. Course Objectives and Learning Outcomes

1. Course Description
1. Course Description
The course first part is designed to provide training in two dimensional design using a CAD/CAM software
application. This course introduces the student to the management and creation of design elements to develop the
structure for a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) program. Topics to be covered include: design application
structure, editing and modification of existing design. The second part of the course is devoted to study the
robotics and robot definitions, classifications and geometries. End effector, (gripping and tooling system) and
kinematics. The course also deals with the fundamentals of automated manufacturing and production systems
with numerical control. The course is involved with the basic concepts of CNC programming milling and turning
using G&M codes.
2. Course MainObjective
1. Understand and execute basic CAD commands for drawing entities, editing, drawing setup, viewing and
plotting.
2. Produce a formal engineering drawing according to standard drafting practice using CAD commands.
3. Obtain an understanding of the history and applications of CNC machine tools.
4. Distinguish the major elements of a CNC machine tool and obtain a working knowledge of how a CNC
machine tool operates.
5. Recognize an engineering drawing of a complex part; and how you will be able to correctly program the
part.
6. Understand the various elements of the robots system.
7. Identify the different type of robots and appreciate the differences between them.
8. Understand the various types of robot geometry.
9. Train on CNC M/C (turning – Milling) Get the basics knowledge of nontraditional machining processes.
