Grade IX Physics Answer Key Set 2
Object 2
U = 0, h = 100m, t = 2s, a = 10m/s2
After 2s, v = u + at = 0 + 10 x 2 = 20 m/s (1/2)
Now v2 = u2 + 2as
400 = 0 + 2 x 10 x s
S = 20 m (1/2)
Height above ground h2 = 100 – 20 = 80 m (1/2)
Difference in height = h1 – h2 = 130 -80 = 50 m (1/2)
(b) When an object moves in a circular path with uniform speed (1)
39. (i) The inability of an object to change by itself its state of rest or uniform motion is called
inertia. (1)
(ii) When a number of forces act an object and their resultant is not zero they are said to be
unbalanced forces. (1)
(iii) The cricketer lowers his hands to increase the time of change of momentum of the ball due
to which the force on his hands decreases. (2)
OR
(iii) The acceleration produced in the two objects will be different. (1)
The acceleration in an object is inversely proportional to its mass. Here the acceleration
produced in m1 will be less than the acceleration produced in m2. (1)
