Research Assignment: Evaluating Business Intelligence (BI) Systems for SMEs

Objective:
Research and evaluate five Business Intelligence (BI) systems suitable for Small and Medium
Enterprises (SMEs) based on key selection criteria. The goal is to provide a comparative analysis
that helps SMEs choose the best BI system for their needs.

Assignment Instructions:

1. Selection of BI Systems: Choose five BI systems commonly used by SMEs.

2. Evaluation Criteria: Assess each BI system based on the following key factors:

o Ease of Use: User-friendliness, learning curve, and interface.

o Cost & Pricing Model: Subscription fees, licensing options, and total cost of
ownership.

o Features & Functionality: Data visualization, reporting, dashboards, AI


capabilities, and integrations.

o Scalability & Performance: Ability to handle increasing data loads and business
growth.

o Support & Security: Customer support, data security measures, and compliance
with regulations.

3. Comparative Analysis: Create a table summarizing the strengths and weaknesses of


each BI system based on the evaluation criteria.

4. Recommendation: Based on your analysis, recommend the best BI system for SMEs and
justify your choice.

Deliverables:

• A 1,500-2,000-word report including:

o Introduction to BI systems and their importance for SMEs.

o Individual evaluation of each BI system.

o Comparative table summarizing findings.

o Conclusion with the recommended BI system and rationale.

• Properly cite sources using APA referencing style.
