SECTION B (GRAMMAR)
Ques 1 Write the kind of each of the following sentences. (1×3 = 3 Marks)

Ques 2 Underline Subjects in the following sentences. (0.5×6 = 3 Marks)

Section A (Writing)

Newspaper
A newspaper is a very useful thing. It brings us news. It is published in the morning or
evening. It is published daily or weekly. It helps us to know about the world.
A newspaper tells us about the government, country, society, business and games. It also
carries many interesting articles, such as stories, jokes, cartoons, quizzes and puzzles.
A newspaper helps us to expand our knowledge. We can raise our voice on a personal or
social problem through a newspaper. Thus, a newspaper is very important.
OR
Radio
Radio is a modern invention. It is a kind of box from which we hear sound. We can hear
music, news, speeches, dramas, stories and poetry on it.
Radio was invented by Marconi in 1901. It is a useful medium of entertainment. It keeps us
updated on various issues facing the world.
A radio is easy to carry from one place to another. It is also used to tell about any warnings of
storms, floods or tsunamis etc. Thus, it helps to save lives. In cities, it is also used to tell
about traffic jams. In many places, radio is the only means of entertainment.
Section B (Grammar)

(i) The deer had the strange eyes.
(ii) The first visitors was a bright green preying mentis and the second was a hairy
caterpillar. The caterpillar began eating the leaves, but Rakesh removed it gently and told it to
come back as a butterfly.
(iii) The deer’s eyes were brown with gold flecks.
(iv)Rakesh ‘s parents sent him to the his grandfather ‘s because there were no schools in their
small village.
