Post Graduate Admissions FAQs

1. What is the admission schedule for MPP and PhD

The School of Public Policy offers MPP and PhD admissions once a year. Each year, admissions
are advertised in March and written entrance tests & interviews are conducted in May. You may
refer IITD admission page here

2. What is the MPP programme duration


The Masters in Public Policy (MPP) is a two years full-time programme.
The course brochure gives more details (MPP Brochure)

3. What is the minimum qualification for admission to the Masters in Public Policy
Programme
a. Five-year Bachelor’s degree such as MBBS, BALLB (Hon), B.Arch. or equivalent;
b. Or four year Bachelor’s Degree such as B.Tech., BSc (Ag), BVSc, or equivalent;
c. Or Postgraduate degrees such as MA, MSc, MPhil, Integrated MSc/MA, MTech or
equivalent;
d. At least 60% or 6.0 CGPA on a 10-point scale.
e. PG diploma holder is not eligible for the MPP programme unless he or she
completes a degree course as outlined above.

4. How will I know the centre for my written entrance test?


Once your application has been checked for eligibility, we will send you a Google form link
where you can chose the test centre you prefer.
5. Are applicants holding certificates from national level examinations like UGC NET, CSIR-
NET, GATE, SLET, or similar tests, exempt from taking a separate entrance exam for
PhD?
No. All candidates are required to take their entrance tests.

6. Do I need GATE for the part-time programmes?


No, GATE is required only for full-time students getting assistantship from the Institute.

7. What is the procedure for selecting the candidates?


a. Eligible applications will be announced shortly after the closing date for application
submission. These candidates will be invited for the written test.
b. The written test paper would have Multiple Choice Questions and candidates would
have to record their answers on an Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheet. Candidates
should use only blue/black ball point pen to fill the circles on the OMR sheet.
c. Based on the performance in the written test candidates will be called for interview.
d. The date of the written test 20 May 2025 and we expect to hold the interviews between
May 26 and May 28, 2025.

8. Where I can find the test syllabus and sample question papers for the admission test?
There is no specific test syllabus for the written test.

9. Is there is facility for accommodation during written test and interview?


No accommodation facility available at IITD for now. Candidates have to make their own
arrangement for accommodation.
