Detailed 4 A’s Lesson Plan in Music

(Grade 4)

I. Objective: At the end students will be able to:

A. Identify and differentiate the timbre of various vocal ranges (e.g., soprano,
alto, tenor, bass) and instrumental families (e.g., strings, woodwinds,
brass, percussion) through listening exercises.
B. Their ability to produce distinct timbres using vocal techniques or
instrumental methods, such as adjusting breath control, bow pressure, or
articulation techniques, during a performance activity.
C. An appreciation for the unique qualities of timbre in music by reflecting on
how different timbres evoke emotions or create atmosphere in selected
pieces of vocal and instrumental music.

 Define chordophones: Instruments that


produce sound through vibrating strings.
 Show pictures or videos of different
chordophones: violin, guitar, cello, harp,
etc.
 Briefly discuss their cultural significance
and roles in various genres of music.

 Parts and Mechanism:

 Discuss the basic structure of a string


instrument (e.g., strings, body, bridge,
fingerboard).
 Explain how sound is produced when
strings vibrate, and how the body amplifies
the sound.

 Pitch and Timbre:

 Describe how string tension, thickness, and


length affect pitch.
 Explain the concept of timbre and how it
differs among string instruments.
