19. Describe the different stages of the cell cycle and explain the importance of the cell cycle to
an organism. (COMM - 5 marks)

First stage: interphase happens. The first phase is the cell growth. The cell then duplicates the
DNA/chromosomes and to get ready for separation to prepare into stage 2. In the second stage is
the mitosis it is responsible for the Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase and Telophase. There are so
many steps in stage 2 so we will skip to stage 3 or the final stage. The third and final stage is the
cell's cytoplasm divides resulting in two new cells.

The cell cycle is important because it can repair and reproduce any damaged parts inside the
organism's body. It also helps the understanding of how humans and organisms grow bigger and
taller.
