Land Development Based on Feature Line- Drawing Note for US Project
Abbreviations:
1. Starting Levels: Begin with known elevations from nearby roads or buildings, or extract
levels from XPSURFACE.
2. Water Path Study: Study the surface or proposed riprap for the path of water, paying
attention to existing drainage or terrain conditions.
3. Surface Grading: Start grading from known levels to ensure connectivity across the
project components. This includes linking building edges, roads, footpaths, curbs,
parking lots, and the surrounding landscape (e.g., ponds or petrol stations).
4. Grading Adjustment: Generate contours (1’ and 5’ intervals) to visualize surface
density and adjust slopes for uniformity.
5. Slope Gradients: Ensure slopes fall within a suitable range, typically around 2%, to
promote proper drainage.
6. Open Feature Line for Ditches: Sometimes, it's necessary to leave one end of a feature
line open to form a ditch or riprap structure for consistent grading and surface generation.
1. Create Surface:
o Go to the Prospector tab > Right-click Surfaces > Create Surface.
o In the dialog box, select TIN Surface, name the surface (e.g., Road Surface), and
select a style (e.g., Contours).
2. Add Feature Line as Breakline:
o Right-click the surface in the Prospector tab > Properties > Add > Breakline.
o In the Add Breaklines dialog, select Standard Breakline and pick the feature
line you created earlier.
3. Rebuild Surface:
o After adding the breakline, right-click the surface in Prospector > Rebuild to
update the surface triangulation.
Edit Breaklines: Right-click on the surface in the Prospector tab > Edit Surface > Edit
Breaklines to modify or remove breaklines.
