Kétoun

When growing food crops, farmers often have a few surplus crops, so they take advantage of surplus
crops such as sweet potatoes, taro tubers, bananas and cassava tubers grown in the area. These
ingredients are readily available and inexpensive, making Kétoun a popular and accessible dish for
everyone.

INGREDIENTS

Ingredients:

peeled sweet potatoes

peanuts, whole or ground

oil, as needed

onion, finely chopped

tomatoes, chopped finely

fresh ginger, minced or grated

a litte bit garlic, minced or crushed

HOW TO MAKE IT

1. Peel and dice the sweet potatoes into small cubes.


2. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
3. Add the onions and fry until translucent.
4. Add the tomatoes, ginger, and garlic to the pan and sauté until soft.
5. Add the peanuts and sweet potatoes, and stir to combine.
6. Add some salt and pepper to taste and stir until well combined.
7. Once the Kétoun is ready, serve it hot with a side of rice.

Kansiyé

Kansiyé is a famous dish in Guinea and has a long history. Many people believe that this dish is of
French origin. The French brought ingredients such as Phalaenopsis, vegetables, vegetarian food and
herbs and spices to Guinea during their invasion of the country in the 19th century. These
ingredients became an important part of the cuisine. local cuisine and has created many unique
dishes, including Kansiyé. Kansiyé is a famous dish in Guinea and has a long history. Many people

INGREDIENTS

6 peeled and quartered plantains

Oil, for frying

Garlic, minced

Salt, to taste
Pepper, to taste

Tomato paste,

Rice, cooked, to serve.

HOW TO MAKE IT

Peel and quarter the plantains.

Heat oil to frying temperature and fry the plantain cubes until lightly golden.

Add garlic and sautéed on medium heat until fragrant.

Add salt, pepper, and tomato paste to the pot.

Add cooked plantains and cook for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Serve with rice and enjoy the delicious dish of Kansiyé!
