Integration of ICT in the Educational System (2018–Present)

The integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into the Philippine educational system

has been a focal point of educational reforms, especially in response to the challenges posed by the COVID-

19 pandemic.

A study by Tomaro and Mutiarin (2018) highlighted the state of ICT integration in the Philippines,

emphasizing the need for added training for teachers, provision of computer infrastructures, strategic

integration of ICT in the curriculum, and strong leadership to fully integrate ICT in education. UNL

Bartolome (2023) conducted a systematic literature review on ICT integration in teaching mathematics,

identifying opportunities and challenges faced by Filipino teachers and students. The study underscored the

Schools in General Santos City. The research assessed the competence of ICT teachers and the level of ICT

integration in the school learning system, revealing varying degrees of implementation and stakeholder

platforms like the DepEd Professional Development LMS (PD-LMS), aiming to enhance teachers' digital

Despite these efforts, disparities remain. The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA)

results indicate that the Philippines continues to struggle with low proficiency levels in reading,

mathematics, and science, underscoring the need for continued investment in ICT infrastructure and teacher
