1. Select two short stories by renowned Hindi authors (e.g., Munshi Premchand, Mahadevi
Verma, or Harishankar Parsai).
2. Read each story carefully and summarize it in your own words in Hindi (200–250 words
per summary).
3. Identify at least 5 new or challenging words in each story. Create a small glossary:
○ Write the new word
○ Provide its meaning in Hindi (and English, if helpful)
○ Use the word in a sentence of your own.

Purpose: Improves vocabulary, and comprehension skills, and encourages analytical thinking.

2. Grammar and Language Skills

Task 2: Grammar Worksheets Prepare a small grammar booklet (approx. 4–5 pages) covering
the following topics:

1. Muhavare and Lokoktiyan (मह ु ावरे और लोकोक्तियाँ)

○ Choose 5 common idioms/proverbs.
○ Explain their meaning and use each in a short sentence or dialogue.
2. Vyakaran Exercises (वचन, लिंग, काल, वाच्य)
○ Provide 2–3 exercises (e.g., fill in the blanks, identify and correct errors, or
sentence transformations) for each concept.
○ Solve them with correct answers and short explanations.

Purpose: Strengthens grammatical accuracy and usage.

3. Creative Writing

Task 3: Personal Reflection / Essay Writing

1. Diary Entry: Imagine you spent a day doing voluntary community service. Write a diary
entry (in 150–200 words) describing your experience, emotions, and learnings.
2. Essay: Choose one of the following topics and write an essay (250–300 words). Use
paragraphing, an introduction, and a conclusion:
○ पर्यावरण संरक्षण में यव
ु ाओं की भमि
ू का (The Role of Youth in Environmental
Conservation)
○ प्रौद्योगिकी और हिंदी भाषा (Technology and the Hindi Language)

Purpose: Develop written expression and the ability to articulate ideas in structured Hindi prose

1. Choose a Hindi Newspaper/Magazine Article or Editorial:

○ Ideally, pick a topic of current relevance (e.g., environment, education, health,
social issues).
○ Read the piece carefully to understand its main argument and style of writing.
2. Write a Brief Analysis (150–200 words):
○ Summary: Identify the central argument or point the author is making.
○ Language & Style: Note any persuasive techniques or impactful vocabulary used
(e.g., rhetorical questions, emotional appeals).
○ Personal Reflection: Share your own viewpoint on the issue. Do you agree or
disagree with the author’s perspective? Why?
3. Vocabulary & Expression:
○ Identify 5 new or significant words or phrases in the article.
○ Write their meanings in Hindi (and English, if it helps), and use each in a short,
original sentence.

4. Purpose: This task fosters analytical reading, encourages awareness of current affairs, and
sharpens students’ ability to interpret and critique written Hindi in real-world contexts.

5. Project/Presentation

Task 5: Culture & Language

1. Research one festival or cultural celebration in India where Hindi is prominently used.
2. Create a short presentation (3–5 slides if using digital tools or a small poster if done
traditionally). Include:
○ Background/history of the festival
○ Key vocabulary and terms in Hindi associated with the festival
○ Your personal observations or experiences (if any)

Purpose: Encourages cultural literacy and contextual language use.

Submission Guidelines

1. Organize your work neatly (either typed or handwritten).

2. Label each task clearly and follow the word limits.
3. Check grammar, spelling, and clarity of presentation.
4. Submit all tasks as a compiled folder/document on the first week back from holidays.

Additional Tips for Students

● Time Management: Spread out the tasks over the holiday period. Avoid leaving
everything for the last minute.
● Use Authentic Sources: If possible, refer to Hindi newspapers, magazines, or educational
websites (if allowed and accessible) to enhance your vocabulary and general awareness.
● Revise Grammar Rules: Regular practice of grammatical structures will help in
strengthening the foundation and performing well in both written and oral assessments.
● Enjoy Reading: When reading Hindi literature, try to immerse yourself in the
narrative—imagine the settings, characters, and emotions.

How to Combine with the Other Tasks

1. Reading and Comprehension (Short Stories): Focus on fiction reading.

2. Grammar and Language Skills: Practice grammar exercises.
3. Creative Writing: Write diary entries or short essays to develop expressive skills.
4. Literature Connection (Alternative): Analyze a non-fiction Hindi article or editorial
instead of a poem.
5. Project/Presentation: Research a cultural festival and present your findings.
